A Houston girl in a wheelchair was “humiliated” at her fifth-grade graduation after school administrators botched the ceremony, forgetting to call her up to a stage that was not wheelchair accessible, her mom said. Trinecia Blacklock, 11, and her family were “extremely excited” about the milestone at Link Elementary School on June 2, her mom, Tonisha McCowan, told KHOU 11. “We were waiting to see her graduate. Everybody was there to yell, scream, but we got shut down completely,” McCowan said. A stream of students crossed the stage as Trinecia waited to be called. But administrators forgot about her. Her parents rushed up to tell administrators their mistake. When the principal finally called Trinecia up to the stage, she realized the stage was not wheelchair accessible. “I wish I could have gone across the stage, but they have no ramp, nothing but stairs,” a disappointed Trinecia said.
