Fashion’s biggest secret! How WhatsApp is shaking up the industry as the chosen method of communication for top designers

August 10, 2022 by www.dailymail.co.uk Leave a Comment

It’s an open secret that fashion designers have long relied on encrypted messages to send confidential, creative work to their wider team via WhatsApp .

Globally located on a range of time zones, they rely almost entirely on the app to share large files full of ideas, designs and sketches in the most secure way possible.

The late creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh, was famous for it – streaming thoughts and insights all day on the platform – and he may have started the trend, relying almost solely on the platform to connect with his larger team.

Now, designers at Prada, Gucci, Versace and Balenciaga all use the app to connect with their partners overseas.

On the final day of Milan fashion week this June one of this year’s most hotly-anticipated collabs was Harry Styles and Gucci’s new ‘HA HA HA’ collection.

Styles, and the famous fashion house’s creative director Alessandro Michele, joined the other menswear previews as they showcased a host of designs that seemed perfectly suited to the current heatwave in Europe.

Talking about their collaboration, Michele described WhatsApp as the dynamic pair’s ‘mood board.’

In fact, Michele’s such a fan that he invited all attendees to a recent Gucci fashion show via WhatsApp voice note.

Here’s why the fashion industry — along with over 2 billion other users — love WhatsApp:

End-to-end encryption, by default: Unlike SMS/texting, WhatsApp is always end-to-end encrypted.

IP, messages, and voice notes can never be accessed by a third party – not even WhatsApp.

Whether you’re planning a fashion show, sharing new designs or sending top secret info, you’ll never have to worry about unwanted snoopers.

Encrypted Backups: For an extra layer of security, WhatsApp also allows you to secure your backups with end-to-end encryption, which includes messages, media, voice messages, video calls, and chat backups.

Whether you’re planning a fashion show or sharing new designs, you’ll never have to worry about unwanted snoopers

For more privacy, you can send photos and videos that can only be viewed once

Disappearing messages: Not every message needs to stick around forever.

With WhatsApp’s disappearing messages, group chat messages can disappear in 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days – the choice is yours.

View Once: For more privacy, you can send photos and videos that can only be viewed once.

Once the recipient opens the photo or video once, it disappears from the chat forever.

When patchy service is a concern, WhatsApp is the best, fastest, and most reliable option: it is structurally designed to operate quickly and reliably in low bandwidth areas

Reliable location sharing: Next time you find yourself in the same city as your friends or fashion industry colleagues, find them easily IRL with real time location sharing.

When patchy service is a concern, WhatsApp is the best, fastest, and most reliable option: it is structurally designed to operate quickly and reliably in low bandwidth areas.

International travel friendly: Especially when traveling abroad, many businesses (local hotels, fashion houses, airlines and more) – use WhatsApp to make it easy to communicate.

Plus, WhatsApp works across both iOS and Android devices, meaning no dreaded ‘green bubble’ when messaging abroad.

Albuquerque Police reveal suspect arrested in Muslim murders

Police in Albuquerque have announced that they have worked with the FBI to arrest a primary suspect, 51-year-old Muhammad Syed, in the murders of at least two Muslim men in the area.

The Albuquerque Islamic community is fighting to keep a man suspected of killing four Muslim men behind bars.

Muhammad Syed, an Afghan refugee who has been in the U.S. for five years, is suspected of killing four people between November and August.

Though Syed is suspected of killing four, he has only been charged with two counts of murder: the fatal shootings of Aftab Hussein, 41, on July 26 and Muhammad Afzaal Hussain, 27, on August 1.

He is the primary suspect in the murders of Muhammad Zahir Ahmadi, 62, last November and the Aug. 5 death of Naeem Hussain, 25.

According to a criminal complaint, police determined that bullet casings found in Syed’s vehicle matched the caliber of the weapons believed to have been used in two of the killings.

They also found that casings from the crime scenes were linked to guns found at Syed’s home and in his vehicle.

According to Ahmad Assed, president of the Islamic Center of New Mexico, Albuquerque Muslims are struggling to understand why the men were killed and whether more attacks were planned.

“Not knowing more about the motive, we are at a disadvantage in understanding whether that was what was planned, that was it, or whether more victims were on the radar,” Assed said.

New Mexico Muslim leaders have cited 2020 surveillance video allegedly showing Syed slashing tires outside of a mosque as reason for him to stay behind bars. The victim of the slashing declined to press charges – but her brother-in-law, Muhammad Zahir Ahmadi, was shot and killed in November.

According to court documents, Syed has also been accused of domestic violence incidents with his son, his wife and his future son-in-law. Those cases were subsequently dropped because the alleged victims declined to press charges.

The Afghan refugee denied any involvement in the crimes when he was arrested during a traffic stop over 100 miles from his home on Monday. Syed claimed that he was driving to Houston to build a new life for his family over fear about the killings.

Family members told reporters that Syed previous worked as a truck driver but had not been employed in a long time.  According to a criminal complaint, Syed claims that he fought against the Taliban.

August 12, 2022 by www.thehindu.com Leave a Comment

The police have photographed those arrested in Jahangirpuri communal violence case at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in the same pose and angle as they were captured in CCTV cameras, to confirm the evidence against the accused, officers said on Thursday.

The police said Facial Recognition System, which is used to solve sensitive cases, was engaged to match photos of the accused with the CCTV footage of the violence. The exercise was conducted after taking permission from the court, police officers added.

A senior police officer said two more accused who were recently arrested in connection with the incident — Saddam Khan and Sanwar Malik alias Kalia — will also be taken from the jail to the FSL unit to be photographed similarly for identification.

Earlier, 37 persons were arrested and two juveniles were apprehended in the April 16 communal violence that unfolded in Jahangirpuri in north Delhi following a “Shobha Yatra”.

The Delhi Police on July 14 filed a chargesheet against 45 people in the case related to Jahangirpuri violence before a court here under various charges including criminal conspiracy and Arms Act.

Rosie O’Donnell’s teenage daughter ‘met convicted heroin dealer on Tinder’ before being found in his attic

August 25, 2015 by www.mirror.co.uk Leave a Comment

Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter allegedly met the man arrested in connection with her disappearance on Tinder.

Chelsea O’Donnell was found safe in New Jersey last Tuesday after being missing for a week and Steven Sheerer, who was arrested shortly after, is reportedly set to claim he thought she was of legal age because she was using the dating app.

According to TMZ, the convicted heroin dealer, in his 20s, says he started chatting to the blonde beauty, 17, after he swiped right on her profile, and is set to use it as a defence in court.

His lawyers say Sheerer relied on the app, which separates users into age groups, starting from 18.
