First look at I’m A Celeb South Africa promises MORE stars will enter camp as show airs

March 26, 2023 by www.mirror.co.uk Leave a Comment

ITV have revealed their line-up for I’m A Celebrity South Africa hasn’t been fully unveiled – teasing more stars will arrive in camp as the show airs next month.

The first trailer of the pre-recorded ‘All Stars’ version of the franchise dropped this morning, after hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed the star-studded line-up live on Saturday Night Takeaway last night.

Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan, Shaun Ryder , Amir Khan, Jordan Banjo and Phil Tufnell are amongst the past campers returning for another stint sleeping under the stars in the name of entertainment.

Joining them are Janice Dickinson, Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, and Carol Vorderman, who have all also previously appeared on the regular series of the long-running reality TV show.

But not every I’m A Celebrity alumni who signed up for a second round on the show has been announced.

Following the big reveal by Ant and Dec last night, ITV have now released a short preview and shown the campers in their new setting for the very first time – with the promise more stars are yet to revealed!

“There will be many more celebrities taking part in the series but viewers will have to watch to find out who they are and when they will enter camp,” ITV wrote as they shared the teaser.

The cheeky duo have promised a show ‘like no other’ (

“Whilst nodding back to the Australian jungle, I’m A Celebrity…South Africa is a uniquely different series so viewers can look forward to lots of unexpected twists and turns.

“They survived the Australian jungle, but South Africa is an even harder proposition which will push them to their limits and test them like never before. The challenges are bigger and tougher and the environment harsher and more unforgiving.”

As the clip shows the stars arriving at camp via helicopter, Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder muses: “I wonder who’s crackers enough to do it again?”

Supermodel Janice says she wants a more harmonious experience this time (

Ant and Dec can then be heard telling the celebrity campers: “Welcome to your new home for the next few weeks.”

“You all survived the Australian jungle but this is a whole new ball game. You will be competing against each other in a series of trials and challenges for the right to remain in the camp.

“One of you will be become the first ever ‘I’m A Celebrity Legend’.”

The trailer continues to show shots of the stars looking exasperated and exhausted, as they compete in terrifying looking challenges and get pushed to breaking point.

The challenges in the new series look tougher than ever (

Geordie duo Ant and Dec took to Twitter in September last year to confirm the new show would be going ahead as they shared a video on the platform.

“South Africaaaa! That’s right, we’re filming a very special version of I’m A Celebrity in South Africa, which is coming to your tellies in 2023,” they revealed alongside the clip.

“We’ve got news,” Dec added: “It’s probably the worst kept secret in television, but we can confirm we’re doing a very special series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in South Africa!

“We’re here, it’s going to be your favourite celebrities from the last 20 years who are going back in to do it one more time.”

Paul says being asked to do the show again is ‘special’ (

The pair revealed the line-up during last night’s installment of their ITV show Saturday Night Takeaway, where the excited duo showcased the nine stars to the live studio audience.

Boxing champ Amir Khan starred in the 2017 series of the jungle show, and now he’s ready to do better in the famous trials.

The Bolton lad said: “I’m a Celeb helped me beat my fear of spiders and snakes and made me tougher. This time I will not be soft on the trials.”

Series 16 contestant Carol Vorderman added: “Doing I’m a Celeb changed me and I can’t wait to take part. Our WhatsApp group from 2016 is still going.”

Jordan’s pals are excited to see him ‘suffer’ again (

Olympian Fatima Whitbread , who famously got a cockroach stuck up her nose during a trial, spoke of her co-stars.

She said: “I learnt a lot about myself last time. There will be some life-size characters and life-size egos in South Africa too.”

Former soap star star Helen Flanagan is also returning to the jungle after being voted to do almost every trial the last time.

Referencing her last stint, she spilled: “Am I going to be a jungle warrior and amazing? No. I’ll be scared but I will have a go be a lot better than last time.”

Supermodel Janice Dickinson got into a jungle spat way back in 2007, but this time around she is keen for harmony in camp.

Carol says doing I’m A Celebrity ‘changed’ her (

She spilled: “I’m back for more fun and friendship, and to get on with everyone. You never know what’ll jump up and bite you.”

Diversity star Jordan Banjo also had his say on returning to the show, revealing: “A series with campmates from over the years is cool. My fellow Diversity dancers are excited to see me suffer again.”

Meanwhile former royal butler Paul Burrell said it was “special” to return to the series, after his hilarious reactions to the trials in series four.

Paul, who recently shared he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, said: “Being asked again is special. I ate kangaroo testicles in Australia. I expect everything to be bigger in South Africa.”

Ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell won the series 20 years ago in series two, and he said of his comeback: “They phoned to invite me back and I said yes immediately. I experienced it all in the jungle which really appealed to me.”

Finally, Happy Mondays star Shaun is ready for all the action yet again. He said: “In the trials I ate a lot of penises, testicles and eyeballs. I loved living outdoors and could’ve stayed another year.”

The special series of I’m A Celebrity is set to air in April on ITV1 and ITVX.

CES 2018 Tech Trends and Predictions | Digital Trends

January 4, 2018 by www.digitaltrends.com Leave a Comment

Once a year, I take a deep breath, open the overflowing CES folder in my inbox, and sort through hundreds of emails to see what’s cooking at the largest gadget show in the world. Sure, I spend all year studying the tech world and looking for digital trends (see what I did there?), but it’s the hundreds of products unveiled or announced at the show that really set the agenda for the year ahead in tech.

I don’t always get it right.

In 2016, I said we’d see driving gadgets galore , which promised to refresh that old hoopty. Did you buy one? I doubt it. In 2017, I predicted “ 4,000 4K announcements ,” and declared that content providers were finally catching up. While there were tons of new players offering internet TV streaming packages, some key names were absent.

At CES there’s always interesting stuff to watch and envelopes to see pushed father.

Indeed, you could argue that exactly the opposite has happened. I will, below. Hey, you can’t get ‘em all right.

Of course, I also predicted the boom in truly wireless headphones and last year’s security frenzy, so I’m not totally off my rocker here.

There’s always interesting stuff to watch and envelopes to see pushed father at CES, from the Halo “ 5D printer ” by Ethereal Machines to Sniffy , a French company selling a screen that somehow conveys smell and taste. Here’s a few trends that you’ll see emerge in Las Vegas and in the year ahead – we’ll see how accurate my predictions are soon.

Alexa (and “touchless computing”) explode

The big story in 2017 was the rise of the smart assistant, with Alexa embedded in everything  from speakers and lights to cars and even furniture. This year promises even more pervasive adoption of voice computing, but the ubiquity of “touchless” interfaces should make voice assistants far more versatile in the year ahead.

Ed Oswald envisioned the near future for us recently: “Imagine picking up your empty bottle of juice and saying ‘Alexa, order this’ and it being ordered for you, without you, since Alexa understands what you’re looking at or holding.” This will require cameras and detailed geolocation abilities like that being shown off at CES by Crea.vision , which uses computer vision sensors to recognize who’s where in your house. And that sounds far more useful than mere weather reports.

Voice assistants will sell you on smart homes

The widespread acceptance of voice assistants will be a huge driver for the smart home in the year ahead, and I expect will be the primary driver of smart home products. You bought a speaker, so why not get lights and locks and thermostats to work with it?

So sure, expect to hear about dozens of new smart speakers, including LG’s newly unveiled ThinQ , but look beyond that and you’ll see the real promise of the Internet of Things taking shape: a smart button for pervasive connectivity. A smart fertility monitor from a new company called Mira. A smart deadbolt you can unlock from your phone. And technology like Qualcomm’s Smart Audio Platform to bring voice control and connectivity to everything that isn’t yet connected.

Chinese companies you’ve never heard of take over

A funny thing happened at CES last year: China quietly took over. From car companies like Faraday Future and LeEco to TV makers like TCL and Hisense (which calls itself “the biggest company you’ve never heard of”), Chinese companies exploded at the 2017 show. Expect even more of a presence from China, as the country moves to rival Asian powerhouses like South Korea and Japan for U.S. dollars.

We expect an enormous showing from Huawei, which plans a keynote address and a massive push into U.S. markets in 2018. The company recently ran a series of ads describing one of its products as “the best phone you’ve never heard of” — get the theme here? — and plans to make sure that in 2018, you hear of them. We picked the new Mate 10 Pro as one of the best smartphones of 2017 , after all. Look for big news from Xiaomi, TCL – which says it as “among America’s fast-growing television brand for the past four years” – and others.

Wireless power is here at last

Two years ago I said we’d see wireless power from Cota and others. We haven’t. But they swear up and down that it’s going arrive in 2018, and from the buzz I’m hearing I believe it. Cota is still trying – and at CES Unveiled this past November, it unveiled a product that realizes the hype. The Forever Battery is a wirelessly charged alternative to AA batteries, and it won a CES 2017 Innovation Award. Meanwhile, a company called WiBa will show off a power bank that charges itself wirelessly while simultaneously charging your phones and other gadgets wirelessly. The death of wires is imminent!

The death of cable TV

Any consumer worth their salt knows 4K is the big buzzword in TVs. Shopping for a new flatscreen? You obviously want a 4K TV . And this year at CES, LG plans to show off an 8K TV, which is sure to make you the envy of the neighbors and set off a new round of keeping up with the Jonses. LG’s latest is a huge 88-inch 8K OLED TV that will be the largest OLED display on the planet. The TV’s resolution will be 7,680 x 4,320, which is 16 times more pixels than 1080p and four times that of today’s 4K TVs.

This year at CES, LG plans to show off an 8K TV

But here’s the thing: TV simply hasn’t kept pace. And consumers know this. Buy a new TV and they don’t turn on CBS, they head straight to Netflix, both for the superior quality of content and for the higher resolutions.

As more 4K and ultimately 8K sets are released, and visual quality from Comcast, Charter, Time Warner, Cox, and even FiOS and AT&T continue to lag, the pace of cord cutting is sure to improve. Just watch out.

A use for AR/VR?

I’m not a believer in virtual reality’s power to transform the world. I don’t want to sit on the couch next to my friends and family encased in a headset and in my own world, I want to watch a movie and laugh and cry along with everyone else. But it’s hard to discount the slew of AR announcements we’re seeing around CES.

For example, Lumus makes transparent displays that enable AR headsets, and in December, the company announced a major deal with Quanta , a giant manufacturer with designs on the space. Will we see dozens of new iterations on Google Glass? Meanwhile, Epson is unveiling a new version of its Moverio AR glasses, a company called ThirdEye will show off the X1 glasses … heck, there’s a whole Augmented Reality marketplace in the South Hall of CES.

Autonomous is cool, but electric cars rule

We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of self-driving cars, which remain the most eye-catching and buzzy showpieces of CES. But it’s not only the vehicle manufacturer’s booths you’ll want to check out: Most big tech companies have their eyes on autos. Intel’s many initiatives at CES include the technology featured “under the hood,” graphics giant Nvidia has transformed itself into a leader in the machine-vision that lets cars pilot themselves, speech-recognition pioneer Dragon aims to help you and your car chat, and so on.

Intel’s many initiatives at CES featured Nvidia, who has transformed into a leader in the machine-vision that lets cars pilot themselves

Meanwhile, the real trend to watch is the explosion of the electric car market. All of the neat new car startups? Electric car makers, including a brand new entry to the space. Called Byton , it promises to be not just  an electric car but “a smart intuitive vehicle,” whatever that nonsense means. Then there’s the Solo , the world’s only one-person, all electric vehicle (made by Electra Meccanica). And Nissan will be showing off the 2018 Leaf , which impressed us by how ordinary it is.

Electric cars are the new internal combustion cars, which spells a huge revolution in U.S. infrastructure, something the U.S. government would be wise to prepare for as we look forward to the billion dollar infrastructure bill. Do we need more gas stations and gas pipelines? Or do we need electric charging stations at every shopping mall from Bangor to Berkeley?

Better laptops than ever before

New Snapdragon chips from Qualcomm enable a new generation of laptops that for the first time ever, really provide a viable alternative to traditional Intel and AMD chips. Snapdragon-powered laptops were unveiled at a splashy event in Hawaii last month; they boast battery life of up to 25 hours if you can believe that. Expect to hear about a dozen or so models from CES 2018. Meanwhile, chips based on Intel’s eighth-generation Core i7 will abound as well, such as the very attractive Samsung Notebook 9 .

Netflix users discover ‘secret menu’ that has hundreds of hidden movies and shows – here’s how to unlock them now

March 27, 2023 by www.dailymail.co.uk Leave a Comment

If you are sick of flicking through the same shows and movies on Netflix, there’s a workaround.

The streaming giant has a secret menu containing hundreds of hidden titles not on the main platform.

The alternative catalog can be accessed using codes associated with a specific genre, such as High Brow Horror, Irreverent TV Comedies and 90-minute movies

There are two ways to access the secret collections. You can do it from any desktop by typing ‘netflix.com/browse/genre/’ into the URL and adding a unique ID code.

Alternatively, if you use Netflix on a TV, you can simply type in the code to the ‘search’ bar. It does not work on mobile or tablets.

DailyMail.com has compiled a list of all the codes at the bottom of this article:

There are hundreds of movies and shows tucked away in a secret menu only accessible with unique codes

The codes are numbers that represent categories that are tucked in the Netflix library and link to content that was offered in the company’s early days.

On the main site or app, Netflix uses an algorithm that customizes each subscriber’s homepage experience by collecting user interests and viewing history data.

It comes as Netflix makes headlines worldwide for all the wrong reasons.

The struggling site announced it was cracking down on password sharing this year, despite using the feature as a promotional tool years prior. A full ban is expected to happen this month in the US.

The company shared the news in a letter to shareholders, noting that ‘widespread account sharing’ has exceeded over 100 million viewers.

These individuals, however, will be able to transfer their profiles to a new paid account, allowing them to carry over their preferences.

The sharing ban comes in response to its first subscriber loss in more than a decade – its customer base fell by 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2023.

The list is accessed using codes associated with a specific genre, such as 90-minute movies, High Brow Horror and Irreverent TV Comedies

And the famously ad-free website introduced a cheaper tier that includes commercials in November 2022, the $6.99 a month ‘Basic with Ads’ option, which differs from the standard $9.99 account.

Advertisements are either 15 or 30 seconds long and play before and during shows and movies.

And leading up to the recent ban on password sharing, the streaming service revealed plans for a paid sharing option.

This will be for multiple users on the same account.

Under the new rules, people watching Netflix using someone else’s account must create their own logins and pay for their own access.

To enable people to share an account, ‘paid sharing’ will be added, allowing multiple users but costing less than a full subscription.

Accounts already come with five ‘profiles,’ but these are solely for use by members of the same household.

‘Every account comes with five profiles that can be used by any member of the household,’ a Netflix spokesperson said.
