Miss cafe-hopping in JB? Malaysian ice cream cafe Inside Scoop has officially opened at North Bridge Road

March 5, 2021 by www.asiaone.com Leave a Comment

They say absence makes the heart fonder.

While there’s still a pretty long way to go before we can cross the borders for a JB trip, we’ve managed to find a number of avenues to satisfy our needs, from stalls that sell lok lok and Ramly Burgers to online platforms that delivery groceries from JB .

One area in JB that Singaporeans used to frequent is Mount Austin, home to a variety of pretty cafes that sold scrumptious yet wallet-friendly grub.

So we’re sure that many would be ecstatic to know that Inside Scoop — one of the popular ice cream cafes there —has decided to set up shop on our little red dot.

https://www.instagram.com/insidescoopsg/

Located along North Bridge Road, the cafe specialises in artisanal ice creams and waffles that are prepared from scratch daily. Their ice creams are also free of artificial preservatives, flavourings, and colourings.

Step into the space and be greeted by the colourful pops of pastel hues and neon lights, as well as an Insta-worthy glider swing which you can sit on while you indulge in your ice cream.

To celebrate their official opening, the cafe will be offering one free scoop of ice cream to everyone who visits their shop today (March 5) from 12.30pm onwards, while stocks last.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CL6iuT_H7sX/

According to Inside Scoop, there are around 800 free scoops up for grabs, so there’s quite a fair bit of it to go around.

Flavours to look forward to include Matcha, Earl Grey, Peanut Buttercup and the recently launched Lucky Pistachio.

If you plan on getting more than one serving, prices for the ice cream here start from $4.80 per scoop. Top up $1 for premium flavours and $2 for extra-premium flavours.

You can also opt to pair your ice cream with the Signature Buttermilk Waffles ($7) or Charcoal Waffles ($6).

Address: 779 North Bridge Road, Singapore 198747

Opening hours: Mon, Wed, Thur, Sun 12:30pm to 10:30pm

Fri-Sat 12:30pm to 12am

Closed on Tuesdays

Spa opens revised WEC calendar, Portimao moved to June

March 5, 2021 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

The Spa 6 Hours retains its original date of May 1 on the latest revision to the calendar, which follows Thursday’s shift of the Le Mans 24 Hours from its traditional mid-June slot to August 21-22.

Portimao’s eight-hour fixture will now take place over the original Le Mans weekend of June 12/13.

A two-day official test at Spa on April 26-27 will precede the series opener in Belgium.

The revised calendar, which was passed by the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Friday, has resulted from the “uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including travel restrictions”, according to a WEC statement.

The WEC stated that it hoped that by pushing back the Portuguese event it will “increase the possibility of fans being able to attend the race”.

Spa, however, is set to go ahead behind closed doors.

Pierre Fillon, president of WEC promoter and Le Mans organiser the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, said: “Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, we have to be extremely flexible in our decision-making.

“We are continually adapting to government decisions, especially restrictions on travel between different countries.

“Following discussions with WEC competitors, we have no choice but to delay the start of the season.”

He added that maintaining the original schedule of six rounds, the minimum demanded for the WEC’s world championship status, had been the “number one priority”.

New WEC boss Frederic Lequien thanked the championship’s teams, suppliers and the FIA, as well as the Portimao and Spa circuits, for their co-operation in what he said “continues to be a difficult time for everyone”.

The WEC will move on to Monza on July 18, the original date for the Italian fixture, after Portimao.

The two end-of-season races at Fuji and in Bahrain remain on their scheduled weekends in September and November respectively.

This is the third time the WEC calendar has been revised this year in the face of the world health crisis.

A planned start at Sebring on March 19 was abandoned at the end of January in favour of a slightly later kick-off at the Algarve circuit near Portimao.

Continuing uncertainty over international travel resulted in a desire on the part of the WEC organisation to host the series opener in Europe.

The delay of the centrepiece Le Mans round was made by the ACO to ensure the best possible chance of the race being able to accommodate spectators.

Last year’s rescheduled edition of the French enduro in September took place without any fan attendance after a plan to accommodate up to 50,000 fans in a series of bubbles around the track had to be abandoned.

Revised 2021 WEC schedule:

Date Venue/Race
May 1 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
June 12-13 Portugal 8 Hours of Portimao
July 18 Italy 6 Hours of Monza
August 21-22 24 Hours of Le Mans
September 26 6 Hours of Fuji
November 20 6 Hours of Bahrain

How to Use a 24 Hour Clock on iPhone & iPad

August 8, 2012 by osxdaily.com Leave a Comment

Show the Military Time as 24 Hour Clock in iOS

The iPhone and iPad default to use a 12 hour clock in the USA and Canada, but you can easily switch to 24 hour time (often called Military time) through a quick settings adjustment in iOS. The 24 hour clock can be desirable for many users, and even outside of military time it’s used widely in other parts of the world as well for international business, travelers, time scheduling, and much more. So it’s easy to see why many iPhone and iPad users may wish to use the 24 hour clock feature on their devices.

This walkthrough will show you how you can use a military time 24 hour clock on any iPhone or iPad.

How to Enable 24 Hour Clock on iPhone & iPad (Using Military Time)

If you wish to enable the 24 hour clock in iOS or iPadOS, just do the following:

  1. Open “Settings” on the iPhone or iPad, then tap on “General”
  2. Scroll down and choose “Date & Time”
  3. Toggle the flip switch for “24-Hour Time” to ON position to enable the 24 hour clock / military time
  4. How to set 24 hour time on iPhone and iPad clock

  5. Close out of Settings as usual

The settings change for the clock and time is immediately visible throughout iOS on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

You’ll see the 24 hour time on the devices lock screen, as well as at the top of the device on the screen clock, and anywhere else system time is displayed in iOS and iPadOS.

This can be helpful for many iPhone and iPad users, either for arranging international schedules, meetings across time zones, for military personnel, when traveling to other countries that don’t use the 12 hour notation, for people who are simply accustomed to 24 hour clocks, or if you just outright prefer to use the 24 hour clock.

If you wish to change the iPhone or iPad time back to a 12 hour clock, simply return to the same Date & Time settings section and toggle the switch again.

As before, adjusting this clock back to 12 hour time intervals setting will impact all iOS system clocks including the time show on the passcode lock screen , and no device reboot is required to change the clock format like this.

This settings change is the same on all iOS devices and all iOS and iPadOS versions, regardless of what system software the iPhone or iPad is running.

Note the 24 hour time setting screen may look a bit different on older iOS versions, as you can see below with a screenshot from those earlier releases saved for posterity:

Check Store & Restaurant Business Hours with Siri

November 27, 2015 by osxdaily.com Leave a Comment

Find business store hours with Siri

If you’ve ever needed to know how late a particular store or restaurant is open, just pull out your iPhone and ask Siri. This should in handy when you’re out and about running errands or need to make a last minute shopping stop, but it’s clearly useful for many purposes. And if you have a new iPhone with Hey Siri enabled for hands free queries, it works great in the car or when you’re out walking around too.

Simply summon Siri as usual by either using Hey Siri or holding down the Home button, then asking the following type of question:

  • How late is [store name] open?
  • How late is [restaurant name] open?

Siri will respond with the hours, showing them on screen and also announcing them aloud (unless you muted Siri ).

Find how late a store is open with Siri

For example, “ How late is Whole Foods open ?” or “ How late is Best Buy open ? “, or How late is In-N-Out Burger open ? work great and are obvious for big box stores and chain stores, but you can even ask for more obscure local staples as well, whether it’s your favorite Hawaiian food restaurant (FEED ME), pizza joint, local pub, or Thai place. Just get the name right, and Siri will tell you when they open and close, like so “How late is Liholiho Yacht Club open?”

Find How late is a restaurant open with SIri

You’ll notice the listings open and closing hours are shown, as well as a phone number, map, and other details about the location. Missing currently however is whether the location accepts Apple Pay, but you can check that with the Apple Maps application by tapping on the little map from the Siri return if you’re curious.

Note that if you ask for a store or business with many locations nearby, aim to be specific about the location by specifying a street with it, otherwise you’ll get a listing to tap on, which takes away from the hands-free effect.

Find business hours with Siri

Obviously we’re focusing on iPhone here, but yes of course this works on the iPad and iPod touch with Siri as well, but since most of us carry the iPhone around it’s a bit more relevant for shoppers.

Siri continuously gains new abilities, but you can see an enormous list of Siri commands here if you’re just getting started with the virtual assistant.
