Earlier in the ITV episode, he had endured a heated debate with daughter Naomi Walter (Karene Peter).
The pair had finally come face to face in the chapel, with Naomi agreeing to talk things through with her father, leaving him feeling relived.
However, things took a turn for the worse, as the pair began to argue, which Charles’ partner Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) ended up overhearing.
Heading towards the church, Manpreet then saw Naomi burst out, looking upset and angry, before she walked away.
Upon entering the church, Manpreet discovered Charles unconscious on the floor.
Naomi arrived back at the scene as the paramedics arrived, and after asking Manpreet if he was ok, Naomi was arrested on suspicion of assault by Harriet.
However, fans of the ITV soap weren’t sure that Naomi was guilty of the crime, after a number of viewers had spotted Ethan messing with the electrics earlier in the episode.

Some astute fans pointed out that a number of comments about the dodgy wiring in the chapel building had been made in past episodes.
One viewer took to Twitter to suggest: “Vicar been electrocuted.”
Another said: “Lazy Marcus should have fixed the electrics by now! Poor Naomi will get the blame for this.”
A third commented: “He got electrocuted playing electrician!” as a fellow fan added: “So I’m guessing he gets electrocuted.”
“I reckon Naomi probably *could* kick Chucky’s arse but probably *didn’t* on this occasion. They were still arguing when she left,” someone else typed.
Another wrote: “Is there a serial killer on the loose?” as another added: “Not sure if a new serial killer storyline is on the cards.”
After being admitted to hospital, medics confirmed that Charles had suffered a serious head injury, and that they had put him into an induced coma due to haemorrhage, and that “the next few hours will be critical”.
