Washington is one step closer to outlawing big cat ownership in the U.S. after the House of Representatives passed the Big Cat Public Safety Act, a piece of legislation championed by “Tiger King” star and animal rights activist Carole Baskin .

The legislation, which was dubbed the “Tiger King” bill after the viral Netflix show of the same name, was first passed by the House in December 2020 with a 272-114 vote.

When the Senate, which is currently in recess, returns in September, the bill will be considered. It has bipartisan support.

“This bill revises requirements governing the trade of big cats (i.e., species of lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah, jaguar, or cougar or any hybrid of such species),” the bill summary reads. “Specifically, it revises restrictions on the possession and exhibition of big cats, including to restrict direct contact between the public and big cats.”

Baskin has spent years pushing to outlaw “cub petting” — the practice of adopting and raising exotic cats as pets.

There is currently no federal law prohibiting the ownership of exotic big cats.

Exotic animals, including big cats, often experience adverse effects from domestication. Additionally, amateur exotic pet owners are often woefully unequipped to care for the animals.

Baskin is optimistic about the positive effects of the bill if passed.

“That is probably the only silver lining to ‘Tiger King,’” Baskin told Fox 13 News. “What it did was it made people aware of this problem.”

“What I would say to anybody who thinks that they want to own a lion or a tiger or any kind of exotic cat as a pet, it’s not the glamorous thing that you see on social media,” Baskin explained. “They grow up like that, and they become apex predators who want to kill you in just a matter of a couple of years.”

Big cats, when raised in a domestic environment, can also lose instincts and life skills necessary for them to survive in the wild. Because of this, they often cannot be released after being taken from owners.

Why Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t host Prince Harry and Meghan at new home

August 18, 2022 – 11:07 BST Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to move into Adelaide Cottage this summer – but there won’t be an invite for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for this main reason

Prince William and Duchess Kate are set to move into Adelaide Cottage this summer, along with their three children, Prince George , Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – but here’s why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be invited to stay at their new abode…

MORE: The real reason behind the Cambridges’ upcoming move

It’s not necessarily because of the so-called rift between the brothers and their families that the Sussexes won’t be hosted there, but quite simply because there is no room.

The Cambridges are downsizing, going from their 20-room home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, with nine-bedrooms to a four-bedroom property on the Queen’s Windsor estate.’

It is unknown if William and Kate’s children will be given a room each in the humble house, which would mean there wouldn’t be a free room for anyone to stay over.

The Windsor estate is where the Cambridges will reside

Reports reveal that the master bedroom has rather statement décor. According to The Sun , it features golden dolphins and ceiling rope decorations recycled from a 19th century royal yacht, creating an interesting nautical-inspired theme.

The historic home will also allow the family to spend more time with the Queen, and it means the family are much closer to Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who live in Bucklebury.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have their own UK base

It is also very close to the Sussexes UK home, Frogmore Cottage, which they have recently renewed the lease on. So when they are over from the US, it seems logical that they reside there, whether that be with or without their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Prince Harry and Meghan have announced that they will be travelling to the UK in September, but their exact place of residence or visiting schedule is yet to be revealed.

Depending on Archie’s school’s term schedule, there is a chance that he could accompany the royal couple on their visit across the pond where they are making appearances for many charities close to their hearts.

‘Brady Bunch’ To Recreate Episode With RuPaul, ‘Drag Race’ Cast For Pride Month Special | The Daily Wire

June 24, 2021 by www.dailywire.com Leave a Comment

The classic “Brady Bunch” television show is being revamped for a special episode involving television personalities from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Described by “ Today ” as “the wholesome suburban family meets drag queen crossover we never knew we needed,” the special Paramount+ event will be named “Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch” and was announced on Wednesday.

According to “Today,” “Five of the original ‘Brady’ kids (Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, Eve Plumb and Susan Olsen) will be joining ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ favorites to re-create the episode ‘Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?’”

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the “ special promises to ‘make and break pop culture history’ as it reunites The Brady Bunch original cast members alongside RuPaul’s Drag Race favorites as they recreate the 1971 episode…The event will use ‘state-of-the-art technology to transport the cast into the original Brady house.’”

The show is meant to be a celebration of “Pride” month when LGBTQ+ rights and issues take center-stage in the United States via corporate promotions and entertainment events during the month of June.

A few of the original stars will make an appearance in the special, but some will be supplemented by others from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Deadline reported :

Set to drop Wednesday, June 30 exclusively on Paramount+, Dragging The Classics: The Brady Bunch will see Barry Williams, Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland play Mike Brady, Peter Brady and Bobby Brady, respectively. Eve Plumb and Susan Olsen will also return as Lucy and Margie, respectively.

Filling the gaps are Drag Race superstars. All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé will appear as Marcia Brady, Drag Race season six winner Bianca Del Rio as Carol Brady, Ben DeLaCreme as Greg Brady and Kylie Sonique Love as Jan Brady. Additional participating Drag Race queens are Nina West as Alice and Kandy Muse as Cindy Brady.

The special will also feature appearances from RuPaul as Wig Attendant and Michelle Visage as Helen.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a reality competition show that involves “queens” dressing in drag. This is not the first “wholesome” television show to be infiltrated with gay rights topics, and not even the first to be in a show geared at children and families.

As The Daily Wire reported , shows on Nickelodeon have recently taken up LGBTQ themes and incorporated queer issues into shows aimed at children. “[B]oth Nickelodeon and its preschool-targeted network, Nick Jr., have released videos championing ‘trans,’ ‘queer,’ and ‘pansexual’ inclusion,” The Daily Wire noted.

The network potentially took a ratings hit, however, as parents might not be eager to allow their children to hear about sexual orientation issues through television at a young age.

“ Pirates and Princesses , a popular entertainment site specializing in Disney-related news, reports Nickelodeon YouTube videos were ‘downvoted to such a degree that they’ve now hidden the ratio.’ The site also says the network has seen a major decline in viewers since it began overtly pushing the LGBTQ agenda to its young viewers,” per The Daily Wire.

Disney recently took a similar step to expand its content, “following in competitor Nickelodeon’s footsteps and planning an LGBTQ virtual concert for children in honor of Pride month. Like Nick Jr.’s ‘Blues Clues and You’ drag queen parade , the event will be hosted by Andrew Levitt, whose stage name is Nina West, as well as perennial kid-favorite Kermit the Frog,” The Daily Wire reported .

BBC Weather’s Carol Kirkwood also predicted temperatures ranging from 15C to 25C across the country. Sunny spells have been predicted for some Britons, but those in the West can expect light patchy rain throughout the course of the day. Ms Kirkwood forecasted cloudier conditions in the North of the country and the Met Office has issued one yellow weather warning for flooding in the East of England.

Carol Kirkwood said: “In the next few days sunny spells will be on the cards, with some rain for some of us.

“And you can see this morning we have got some light and patchy rain coming in from the West.

“This is a weather front, and just one or two showers dotted around elsewhere.

“So what’s happening is we’ve got this clutch of weather fronts coming in from the Atlantic, and they’re going to be pushing steadily southwards and eastwards.

Ms Kirkwood added: “But they’re not going to get into the far southeast, where it will be largely dry today despite the odd shower.

“It will remain fairly cloudy across Scotland, northwest England, Wales, and into the southwest as well.

“As this rain moves through further south, central and eastern parts of England we are looking at some sunshine.

“Just one or two showers and behind the band of rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland, we will see further showers.

UK weather: Threat of thunderstorms continues

Ms Kirkwood said: “Temperatures today ranging from 15C in the North to 25C in the South.

“So temperatures are up a little bit on yesterday, we’ve got a change of wind direction, it’s more of a Westerly or a South Westerly.

“And now by the time we get to tomorrow morning what you will find is that it’s still going to be muggy across the far South.

“And it will be fresher in the North, and through tomorrow we lose our weather front.

Ms Kirkwood added: “It will be crossing us as a weak feature overnight.

“Low-pressure dominants and you can see from the isobars, we’re looking at brisk winds across the North of the country.

“So for Friday, there goes the rain, a lot of dry weather, a fair bit of sunshine hanging around.

“But we will have showers from the word go in Western Scotland and the West of Northern Ireland, and through the course of the day, they will develop more widely.

“And some of them could be more heavy, you make even hear the odd rumble of thunder.”

According to PEOPLE the move to Windsor is “mostly down to schooling” though their new location will also put them 10 minutes away from the Queen’s offices at Windsor Castle.

The family will also be much closer to Kate Middleton’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton who live in Bucklebury.

It is hoped that the privacy and security of the Windsor estate will allow the children to have more of a normal upbringing where they can play outside and enjoy other people’s company without the world watching.
