UK School Refuses to Show Details of ‘Secret’ Woke Lessons to Parents

June 28, 2022 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

A diverse and historic London state-funded school in London is refusing to release details of lessons on gender and far-left concepts like “white privilege” to parents.

Haberdashers’ Hatcham College, known as Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College until Robert Aske, the 1600s-era merchant and haberdasher who served as its benefactor, was deemed problematic for having once invested in a trading company with links to the slave trade, hosts some 1,400 pupils.

Clare Page, the mother of one pupil, has complained along with her husband that pupils at the school are being “indoctrinated” and subject to politically charged material, citing online lessons in which they were asked to produce posters in the wake of the Black Lives Matter unrest following George Floyd’s death and played a rap song featuring the lyrics “our prime minister is a real racist”.

The parents also say pupils were lectured on so-called “white privilege” and “discriminatory systems of power”, according to The Times , and that sexual education lessons sourced from a company that linked to for-profit website promoting pornography until recently.

The school is refusing to show parents some of the teaching materials it is using, however, claiming they are “commercially sensitive” and thus not subject to the Freedom of Information (FOI/FOIA) Act.

“It is unacceptable for schools to hide behind commercial confidentiality in refusing to disclose curriculum resources. There is a clear public interest in parents knowing what their children are taught,” lawyer Paul Conrathe has said of the refusal, which is being appealed to the Information Commissioner, who regulated FOIA requests.

Britain’s governing Conservative (Tory) Party, led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, often offers tough talk on far-left ideology in state schools, with a black female minister for the government even offering a viral speech insisting that the Black Lives Matter movement is political and that teaching far-left concepts like Critical Race Theory (CRT) and “white privilege” as fact is against the law.

In terms of concrete action, however, the government has done essentially nothing, and ideology on so-called “whiteness” is pushed not only in schools but by other state-funded institutions such as National Health Service (NHS) trusts , with the government — including the aforementioned minister — declining to even comment on it when contacted by Breitbart London.

Indeed, it is a Labour Party parliamentarian, Baroness Morris of Yardley , who is now putting forward an amendment to the Schools Bill currently being guided through Parliament by the government to give parents the right to see the teaching materials used to educate their children.

“I want it established that parents have a legal right to see what their child is being taught. This must be resolved,” said the baroness, who was elevated to the House of Lords as a life peer by Tony Blair after having previously served as Secretary of State for Education and Skills in his government from the House of Commons.

“There is a lot of contested information about sex and gender. It is not unreasonable for parents to say to the school: ‘Let me see what you are going to show my child.’ The race issue has also been brought to my attention,” she added.

Education Politics: Gender Ideology Lessons On the Rise in Some Schools

June 28, 2022 by www.breitbart.com Leave a Comment

As the national debate over teaching gender ideology to children in schools rages, some schools are putting in restrictions while others are doubling down.

While seven states require gender ideology training in their schools, five other states have put in restrictions, at least until later in a child’s education.

Some of the demand for teaching the ideology has been met by curriculum developers with increased options for all grade levels.

The National Sex Education Standards group has called teaching about “gender identity” as “one of seven essential topics, alongside puberty, consent, sexual orientation, and other subjects,” according to the Washington Post .

NSES’s gender ideology standards for K-12 students include , by the end of the fifth grade, being able to “describe the role hormones play in the physical, social, cognitive, and emotional changes during adolescence and the potential role of hormone blockers on young people who identify as transgender.”

Even earlier, though, by the end of second grade, students should be able to “define gender, gender identity, and gender-role stereotypes” and “discuss the range of ways people express their gender and how gender-role stereotypes may limit behavior.”

The Biden administration has also advocated for gender ideology teaching in schools, in addition to puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and even genital mutilation for children who identify as transgender.

Florida is one of the five states that either ban or limit teaching such an ideology to its youngest students. The state made headlines when leftist media outlets erroneously dubbed the bill the “don’t say gay” bill. There are ten other states considering measures to limit the discussion of the ideology until later in a child’s education.

One common point of contention is certain books in school libraries and classrooms that depict pornography or pedophilia that are somehow supposed to represent LGBTQ persons.

Leftists contend that banning these books is tantamount to censorship but fail to realize that children can be harmed by being exposed to such adult content.

Other restrictions include disallowing boys from competing against girls in sports, a restriction in at least 18 states, and similarly disallowing boys from using the girls’ restrooms and changing rooms.

Leftist outlets like the Post breathlessly report that “Philadelphia’s school district even came under fire for informing teachers about an independent Trans Wellness conference where some attendees discussed how to support youth who are transitioning genders.”

What the Post failed to mention was the fact that the conference in question explored topics such as “BDSM,” “masturbation sleeves,” “kink,” “banging beyond binaries,” and “trans sex.”

As Breitbart News reported, one presenter spoke about “prosthetics for sex” and showcased his collection of over 500 genital prosthetics.

“I have tried and touched many dicks, right — prosthetics, real dicks, all dicks,” he said during a presentation. “This is one of the most realistic feeling in terms of like the inside of a penis.”

“It’s a big boy, this is, like, gigantic,” he continued. “Alright, give me two hours alone and I’ll get this in my butt.”

The increase in teaching gender ideology comes as more and more of America’s young people identify as transgender or nonbinary.

Indeed, over five percent of young adults in the United States identify as transgender or nonbinary — a massive generational increase.

The gender training starts early, setting a foundation to build on as children get older.

For example, some early training tells students there are no “girl colors” or “boy colors” and that dolls are not just for girls. Teachers will also stay away from saying things like “good morning, boys and girls, and instead only say a gender-neutral “good morning, class.”

But other curriculums are more direct.

One training for first graders pushes the message that gender is fluid.

“You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts,” teachers tell children. “You might feel like a girl even if you have body parts that some people tell you are ‘boy’ parts. And you might not feel like you’re a boy or a girl, but you’re a little bit of both. No matter how you feel, you’re perfectly normal!”

That curriculum was developed by a gender ideology activist organization called Advocates for Youth.

The Post reports of a Massachusetts kindergarten teacher using the activist curriculum, where the teacher “introduces the terms transgender and genderqueer but doesn’t fully define them because that is too much for kindergartners.”

“He talks to students about anatomy but declines to classify various body parts as male or female,” the Post reports. “‘We don’t say a penis belongs to a man,’ he said. It belongs to a human, he explains.”

“And he makes clear that even if a doctor proclaims at birth, ‘It’s a boy!’ that baby may not be a boy,” the Post continues. “‘Someone who was born a boy may not feel they are a boy.’”

Maryland has a statewide framework for teaching gender ideology in sexual education courses, but the topic could vary by the school district, with each being able to decide for itself how to go about teaching the topics.

One of the creators of the Maryland framework told the Post she believes the standards will mostly be used in schools or districts where a student has identified as transgender.

Among individual states and school districts, gender ideology is taught or not taught extremely differently.

Many conservative-leaning areas have been pushing to ban the ideology entirely or delay the age at which it is taught to students. Indeed, many conservatives argue that the ideology is a political movement, and many consider the left’s insistence that it be taught at such young ages as “grooming.”

The idea of “grooming” is the belief that schools and other left-leaning organizations might introduce these ideas to children in order to suggest to them into believing they are of a different gender than they actually are. In essence, these institutions can take children who are already impressionable and naïve and get them to question their own identities. That, the argument goes, is the source of the extraordinary amount of America’s young people identifying away from their true gender.

Indeed, in many instances, teachers have been caught telling children that doctors “make mistakes” when declaring the gender of a newborn baby. Further still, children have reported teachers telling them that their parents may be lying to them about their gender and asking if they had ever considered that they were not the gender that matches their biological sex.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) had issues with her state’s sexual education course, which included a video for kindergartners telling them that doctors “make a mistake” when declaring gender. After the Maine Republican Party ran ads against her, Mills removed the video from the government’s website.

Virginia saw this issue as well, particularly in the months leading up to its 2021 gubernatorial election, where parents became outraged at what their children were learning in school — from gender ideology to critical race theory. The Commonwealth, too, had a statewide standard for transgender students that allowed boys to use girls’ locker rooms and restrooms, among other things.

After a revelation that the Loudoun County School Board appeared to cover up a rape of a female student by a boy in a dress using the girls’ facilities, the election flipped in the Republicans’ favor.

Virginia, a state that had been trending blue for many years, elected three Republicans statewide and a Republican-controlled General Assembly almost entirely based on the education issues.

New Jersey nearly had the same fate for the same reason, with Gov. Phil Murphy (D) nearly losing his reelection bid.

Why are paychecks late for Baton Rouge school employees? District blames payroll delay.

June 28, 2022 by www.theadvocate.com Leave a Comment

Lots of East Baton Rouge Parish schools employees awoke Tuesday morning and checked their bank accounts and found they hadn’t got paid like they thought they would.

Just before noon Tuesday, Nichola Hall, chief of human resources, sent out a memo to let affected employees know the problem had been fixed, and they should be “paid via direct deposit by the end of the business day today.” Hall suggested they keep checking with their bank since financial institutions process direct deposits with varying speed.

The affected employees get paid for nine or 10 months of work, but elect to have their paychecks spread out over 12 months, a process known as “summer deferred pay.”

Letrece Griffin, chief of communications, said human error was to blame, that the school system processed deferred payroll later than normal, prompting hours of delay.

“It was caught early enough so that payments happened on the 28th during the day, not first thing in the morning like we are used to being paid,” Griffin said.

Griffin warned that there is enough uncertainty about how quickly banks will process the payments that, while almost every employee should be paid by late Tuesday afternoon, there’s a chance a few employees may not see their pay until Wednesday morning.

Jury is chosen to decide Florida school shooter’s sentence

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A jury of seven men and five women was chosen Tuesday for a penalty trial to decide whether Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz should be sentenced to death or get life in prison for the 2018 attack, capping a nearly three-month winnowing process that began with 1,800 candidates.

The jurors were picked from a final group of 53 candidates by prosecutors and defense attorneys. Those chosen survived three rounds of questioning that began on April 4 and dragged on through numerous delays. Eight to 10 alternates were still being chosen Tuesady.

The jury will decide whether Cruz, 23, receives the death sentence or life in prison without parole for the murders of 14 students and three staff members at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018.

Cruz pleaded guilty in October to those murders and 17 counts of attempted murder, so the jurors will only decide his punishment. They must be unanimous for Cruz to get the death penalty — if at least one votes for life, that will be Cruz’s sentence.

The jurors chose are two banking executives and two technology workers, a probation officer, a human resources professional and a Walmart store stock supervisor. Also included are a librarian, a medical claims adjuster, a legal assistant and two retired executives from the insurance and health care fields.

Additionally, between eight and 10 alternates was still being chosen late Tuesday.

Each side was given the opportunity to persuade Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer that a particular candidate was biased. And if she disagreed, each side also had at least 10 peremptory challenges where they could eliminate candidates for any reason except race or gender.

The panel will have a task never faced by a U.S. jury — no American mass shooter who killed at least 17 people has ever made it to trial. Nine others died during or immediately after their shooting attacks, killed either by police or themselves. The suspect in the 2019 slaying of 23 at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, is awaiting trial.

In the first phase of jury selection, the prospective panelists were simply asked if their employment and life circumstances would allow them to serve the four months the trial is expected to last. About 80% were eliminated because their employers wouldn’t pay them, they are self-employed, or they had school obligations or vacations planned.

In the second phase, the 300 remaining panelists were asked their opinions on the death penalty and whether they could be fair to Cruz. Finally, about 85 were asked about their lives and work histories, whether they could stomach seeing gruesome crime scene and autopsy photos and even if they play violent video games and believe white people have advantages in society not available to racial minorities.

The selection process was upended several times. One day, the sheriff’s deputies who guard the courtroom thought some potential jurors were about to attack Cruz and pulled him to safety as they quickly removed the threatening panelists. On another day, Scherer had to dismiss a group of potential jurors because one wore a T-shirt referencing the shooting that supported the victims and survivors. Selection also was delayed for two weeks when lead defense attorney Melisa McNeill contracted COVID-19.

The jurors will be exposed to graphic evidence, including crime scene and autopsy photos and tour the three-story classroom building where Cruz methodically stalked the halls, shooting at anyone in front of him and into classrooms. It has not been cleaned since the shooting and remains bloodstained and bullet-pocked, with Valentine’s Day gifts strewn about.

COOK COUNTY, IL — Ahead of Illinois’ June 28 primary elections, Patch distributed questionnaires to candidates running in contested races in the Democratic and Republican parties, including the five candidates seeking a four-year term as Cook County Sheriff.

On the Democratic side, incumbent Thomas J. Dart (in office since 2006) faces off with Noland Rivera, LaTonya Ruffin and Carmen Navarro Gercone. There are no Republican candidates on the ballot. Brad Sanderfur will run in the general election as a Libertarian.

Name : Noland Rivera

Campaign website: www.rivera4sheriff.com

Town of residence: Chicago

Party affiliation: Democrat

Family: We are a Gold Star family as a result of my wife Sheila Rivera being the first Cook County Sheriff Officer to die in the line-of-duty in 2020 due to COVID-19. I am now a single parent for the second time and a father of five wonderful children; Anthony N. Rivera, Allie Fuell, Megan Fleischmen, Noland A. Rivera Jr., and Isaiah C. Rivera. I have also been a caregiver for my mother Lillian I. Gonzalez for over 22 years and our German Shepherd Dog is named, “Justice.”

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

Brother, James A. Rivera, Deputy District Chief, Chicago Fire Department

Education : Master of Science in Threat and Response Management, at the University of Chicago;

Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Management at Calumet College of St. Joseph; Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Criminal Justice at Wilbur Wright College Illinois

Occupation: Sergeant of Police, Chicago Police Department

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: None

Why are you seeking this office?

As a 28-year veteran Sergeant of the Chicago Police Department, I know intimately how crime destroys hope, families, and communities. We are a county of rich and diverse communities and we must come together to ensure we provide a safe, prosperous, and welcoming community. It is without a doubt, that now is the time to strive for the greatest outcome for our future and the future of our children. I am running for Sheriff to bring sound common sense leadership, eliminate fraud, waste and abuse at all levels, work with local, state, and federal agencies to bring more resources to the Sheriff’s office, to hire more Deputies, and improve and maintain safe working and efficient detention facilities.

The single most pressing issue facing Cook County is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing Cook County is crime. I will address this by refunding the police, hiring more officers, professionalizing the force, and committing to real engagement with communities, leaders and stakeholders. I will also have a greater sheriff’s presence, cultivate strong partnerships with municipalities county wide to include Chicago cook, and provide them additional support in law enforcement crime reduction.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

First and foremost I am not a career politician nor have I sought to run for any other elected position. I decided to run for Cook County Sheriff and didn’t ask anyone for permission. This is not politics as usual. I am not a machine appointee nor a ‘paper only’ officer. Secondly, I am the most qualified and highly experienced candidate in this race. University of Chicago, along with my world-wide, on the job experiences, have given me the training and preparation to perform the duties of Sheriff of Cook County. I earned my Masters Degree from the University of Chicago, a retired Army and Air Force Master Sergeant with two overseas tours, Flight Chief, Anti-Terrorism Officer, Air Marshal, and currently a Police training instructor with over 27 years as a member of the CPD assigned in the Police Training Academy.

If you are a challenger, what would you do differently than the incumbent?

The biggest difference between myself and the incumbent is my experience, training and credentials. And it is what ultimately guides me to do this job right. As Sheriff, I will establish an efficient, humane and modern Sheriff’s Department which is considerate of the needs of all stakeholders. I am the highest trained, most qualified candidate in this race. The fact is, people who the law has determined should be removed from society, are a threat to all of our safety and that threat needs to be managed in a fair and equitable fashion, to individuals that are accused of crimes, as well as the victims of crime and their families.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform:

I have a number of short and long term objectives to improve the Sheriff’s department including: Conducting a comprehensive budgetary analysis, addressing the obstacles and problems with the electronic monitoring program, improving the hiring and retention process, having open and frank communications with bargaining units, making improvements to cook county jail’s operations, facilities and processing, addressing the gaps between those referred to the sheriff’s office by the courts, and finally establishing a mobile crime reduction task force.

How would you address the increase in carjackings in Cook County, and what is your take on how the spike in carjackings has been handled so far?

What we are all experiencing is a breakdown in the criminal justice system in Cook County in which the Sheriff’s office should be playing a critical role. The Sheriff’s office as a law enforcement body should be leading and coordinating a plan with the 128 municipalities on better ways to stop these violent crimes, arrest individuals responsible, share information and do on-going joint operations to quell hotspots. We are in desperate need of a trained professional to drive this necessary change, not career politicians and empty promises.

If you gain this position, what accomplishment would define your term in office as a success?

I plan to professionalize the sheriff’s office, bring greater trust and cooperation between the office and the 128 communities within the county, hire up to 3,000 officers, ensure greater health and safety for individuals referred by the courts, and ensure the Electronic monitoring system is used for its intended use for non-violent offenders.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Throughout my career I have practiced and brought professionalism and expertise to every position I have held. When elected Sheriff. I plan to bring the same sound common attributes to this office and to the citizens of Cook County. I am without question the most qualified candidate. And in addition to my extensive background in law enforcement, I have the greatest scope of experience and the wisdom that comes from that experience. My ultimate goal will be to begin the process of professionalizing the Sheriff’s office and eventually obtain Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) certification, thereby modernizing and professionalizing our Sheriff’s Department.
