Famous High School Football Coach Kevin Kelley Hired By FCS Team Presbyterian College

May 7, 2021 by dailycaller.com Leave a Comment

Famous high school coach Kevin Kelley is finally headed to the college level.

Kelley, who is well-known for never punting and always onside kicking , has been hired by Presbyterian College, according to Kyle Deckelbaum. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The Blue Hose (wild mascot name) are an FCS program based out of Clinton, South Carolina.

Pulaski Academy coach Kevin Kelley is leaving. He will be the head coach at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, according to an email sent to school parents.

— Kyle Deckelbaum (@KATVKyle) May 6, 2021

In case anyone is curious how much success Kelley has had at the high school level with his never punt and always onside kick strategy, he’s won nine state titles in Arkansas .

So, the man wins and he wins a lot.

People have always wanted to see him get a decent college job, and he now has. It’s the FCS. It’s literally one step below the highest level of college football.

The coach that NEVER PUNTS!

I honestly can’t wait to see how his bold football mindset works at the college level. I have a feeling there will be exactly zero middle ground.

He’s either going to be awesome or flame out in spectacular fashion. I’m not sure anything else is an option.

Win or lose, Presbyterian hiring Kevin Kelley is probably the biggest thing that will ever happen for the Pioneer Conference. All eyes will be on the Blue Hose !!!

Presbyterian College football just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

Chelsea announce Mauricio Pochettino as new manager after Blues’ worst Premier League finish in over 25 years

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager on a two-year deal until 2025. The Blues announced the Argentine’s arrival on Monday one day after a dreadful 2022-23 Premier League campaign was brought to an end with a 12th-placed finish.

Pochettino, 51, takes up office at Stamford Bridge at the start of July and arrives after stints with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur . The two-time UEFA Champions League winners have an option to extend the South American’s stay by an additional year.

“The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the board is proud of,” said owners Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, Jose E. Feliciano, Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss in an official club statement . “We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board.”

Chelsea state that Pochettino was their leading candidate and the only manager who was entered into serious talks with by the club. The man from Murphy, who has also managed Southampton and Espanyol, arrives off the back of the club’s lowest Premier League finish in over 25 years.

Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new head coach!

— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) May 29, 2023

“Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward,” added sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart. “He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate.”

Chelsea started 2022-23 under Thomas Tuchel, replaced the German 2021 UEFA Champions League winner with Graham Potter, and later appointed Frank Lampard until the end of term. Pochettino will be Chelsea’s sixth managerial appointment in five years and will be tasked with an immediate return to European competition as well an improvement on third round domestic cup exits.

Beaten Champions League semifinalists Real Madrid saw the Blues off in the quarterfinals which was their final hope of remaining in continental competition. The Argentine also inherits a bloated squad which he will need to trim in order for the situation to be more manageable after a disorganized transfer market assault since last year’s takeover, spending over $600 million on players during the last two transfer windows.

Pochettino won three domestic titles with PSG in France which ended scrutiny of his lack of silverware up until that point of his career. However, the French champions were beaten to the 2021 Ligue 1 title by his successor Christophe Galtier’s Lille OSC side although he did enjoy initial good performances in the Champions League — albeit not up to his 2019 UCL final best with Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino appointed Chelsea head coach: Why former Tottenham boss is right for Blues

May 29, 2023 by www.skysports.com Leave a Comment

Chelsea have spent £600m on players and need a manager who can properly mine that investment. It is why Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed.

The memory remains so vivid, that Adam Lallana can recall every detail. The midfielder described it as “an awakening” when Pochettino first walked into Southampton’s dressing room in January 2013 to give his introductory address ahead of a training session.

The Argentine had only undertaken a two-hour English lesson booked by his wife at that point, but possessed a magnetic pull. “He was sharp,” Lallana noted. “He looked the part, he spoke with passion despite the language barrier.

“There was so much energy in the room and an immediate connection. The lads were all buzzing to play for him – and were desperate to know what fragrance he used!”

Pochettino has a habit of not just making a strong first impression on his players as a manager, but a lasting one.

At Espanyol, a club he saved from relegation against all logic, Philippe Coutinho was transformed from an Inter Milan castaway to a stunning playmaker who would directly and indirectly contribute to Liverpool’s golden period under Jurgen Klopp.

“Mauricio gave me a lot of confidence,” the Brazilian would say. “He helped me believe in myself and become the player I am.”

Over at Tottenham, Pochettino’s influence on Harry Kane – their fourth-choice striker when he arrived – is well documented. He convinced Spurs to stick with Heung-Min Son when the club wanted to twist, and his rebuilding of Ryan Mason – the player plus person – went above and beyond.

Even in the grandiose Paris Saint-Germain show, where egos run amok, Pochettino was able to solidly steer the dressing room. There were no major public fall-outs during his spell, unlike the spats that coloured the periods before and after.

Pochettino is a players’ manager; disarming then developing them. He offers a journey to buy into, a subscription to the collective good.

“I look in people’s eyes and it becomes easy to connect,” he told this writer. “I believe people can perceive what you are about and that first impressions are big – you need to be strong and honest and people will relate to that. Players need to feel how you work and trust in you.”

Chelsea knew all this about Pochettino. Twice under Roman Abramovich via Marina Granovskaia, who held him in the highest esteem, they attempted to appoint the 51-year-old at Stamford Bridge. Now they have finally landed their man.

But there is no greater need for his skillset at the club than right now. Chelsea have pumped £600m into a seriously bloated squad and need a figure who can unlock their investment.

There is an abundance of talent but the group is low on confidence and without direction. They are primed for Pochettino’s energy, philosophy and brand of belief that former Southampton defender Dejan Lovren once likened to “becoming a superhero”.

Chelsea’s recruitment staff know Pochettino will work with the tools at his disposal instead of pointing to transfers. This is a man who performed miracles at Tottenham with little-to-no net spend, going two successive windows without making a signing – an anomaly in the Premier League.

The squad is overflowing with intelligent players that will ace Pochettino’s demands for a high press, quick offensive transitions, overloads and building from the back.

There is also enough versatility to adapt an approach to a compact, organised shape in a mid-block. The attacks from Pochettino’s teams have tended to largely engage the full-backs, an area Chelsea are particularly stocked in.

The list of players who stand to benefit from his appointment – Mykhailo Mudryk screams out – is lengthy. But Pochettino will also be ruthless in trimming down a ballooned squad and cutting out those not capable of meeting standards or his tactical demands.

He is also exceptional at managing relationships with the powers that be. Despite desperately pushing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for a refresh of the squad in the years prior to his 2019 sacking, Pochettino has never once been publicly critical of him.

They remain on good terms, which is the case too with PSG’s hierarchy. Given the hands-on nature of co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali at Chelsea, this seems an instructive point.

Pochettino has always performed beyond expectation, with the exception of France’s giants. He is in great company in that regard, with Carlo Ancelotti, Unai Emery and Thomas Tuchel proving PSG itself is the problem, not the person in the dugout.

Chelsea’s Thiago Silva says the players must take responsibility for the team’s form this season, and the blame should not solely be on the managers

Pochettino saved Espanyol from the drop, defying convention after becoming their third throw of the dice in 2008-09. He guided them to victory over Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in a Copa del Rey quarter-final and took them to an unthinkable eighth-placed finish.

Southampton were brave under his watch, winning against Manchester City, Liverpool (twice) and Chelsea, as well as draws with Arsenal, Manchester United (twice) and City. He delivered the club’s best Premier League points total at the time in 2013-14 and secured them a hefty profit on player sales.

Pochettino moulded Tottenham in front of our eyes, turning them from a laughing stock to Champions League regulars – finalists in 2019 – and domestic contenders despite having the lowest budget of the ‘Big Six’ and being trampled in the market by them.

Spurs have nosedived drastically since his departure, with the fanbase joining players and staff in wishing they were close to unveiling him again.

It is instead Chelsea who have that honour. The club sacked their Champions League-winning manager in Tuchel, and within seven months were getting shot of his replacement who they swore was part of a long-term process.

Graham Potter was saddled with players he did not need in a recruitment strategy that undercut his coaching approach. Enter Frank Lampard, an interim move that spoke to sentiment rather than smarts. His record read played 11, lost eight, conceded 21, won one.

Pochettino makes incredible sense for Chelsea. It is up to the club to prove they are a logical destination for an elite manager.

Gerard Pique fails to impress new girlfriend’s family after Shakira breakup

May 29, 2023 by www.thenews.com.pk Leave a Comment

Gerard Pique has landed in trouble amid his new romance with Clara Chia Marti following his separation from Shakira.

The parents of the PR student, 24, do not trust the former Barcelona player, 36, because of his multiple alleged cheating scandals, claimed an insider.

Spanish media outlet, La Vanguardia , revealed that Clara’s parents, Lluís and Marga, are afraid their daughter will go through the same situation as the Waka Waka singer.

Another reason they have for not liking or trusting the athlete is his age. They believe Clara is too young to be dating someone in their late 30s.

Above all, they have issues with Gerard over his custody agreement with Shakira as he has to visit Miami every month to spend 10 days with his boys, Sasha and Milam, as per the arrangement.

Not only her parents, but Clara has some hesitations about the agreement and she has been vocal about it with Gerard.

Journalist Jordi Martin, who claims to be a specialist on Shakira and Gerard’s life, has claimed that Clara told the sports star after he signed the agreement with Shakira, “You’re going to have to live with it for the rest of your life.”

Clara’s parents have also voiced their concerns that Gerard has met them only two times even though the duo have been dating for almost a year now.

“Clara has visited Piqué’s parents’ house on countless occasions, but how many times has Piqué gone to Clara’s house since Christmas? Two days, maximum,” an insider revealed their concerns.

Gerard and Shakira announced their separation last year amid rumours that the footballer had cheated on the Columbian singer with Clara.

Following their separation after 12-year relationship, Gerard made his romance with Clara, seemingly confirming the rumours.
