Madden NFL video game simulation has Eagles beating Chiefs 31-17 in Super Bowl

The Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl 31-17 over the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a Madden NFL video game simulation.

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown hauled in eight catches for 114 yards and one touchdown, according to the simulation by EA Sports. On the other side, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 29 of 39 passes for 249 yards and one TD.

But the simulation has Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts delivering “a Super Bowl MVP-worthy performance.”

The NFL championship game goes Sunday in Glendale, Ariz.

Election

Just as timely and incisive now as it was in 1999, Alexander Payne’s Election is a razor-sharp satire of political opportunism, in the context of a high school student council election. Reese Witherspoon gives one of her best performances as perky teenage social climber Tracy Flick, and she’s perfectly balanced by Matthew Broderick as the sad-sack middle-aged teacher who decides that she’s his nemesis.

Payne and co-writer Jim Taylor (working from Tom Perrotta’s novel) craft witty, hilarious dialogue while keeping the story grounded in genuine character interactions.

Heathers

Cult classic Heathers is one of the best comedies on Amazon Prime . This dark satire takes on the teen movies of its era (the 1980s), bringing a violent edge to the story of an upstanding young woman falling in love with a rebellious bad boy. Veronica (Winona Ryder) and J.D. (Christian Slater) take their crusade against the vapid popular students at their high school to deadly extremes, while the movie retains a sense of the absurd. The filmmakers mix whip-smart dialogue with cutting commentary on conformity.

His Girl Friday

Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell star as bickering newspaper reporters (and ex-spouses) in Howard Hawks’ classic comedy His Girl Friday . Hawks swaps the gender of one of the main characters of the popular play The Front Page , turning the story into a comedy about remarriage as well as a farce. The rapid-fire dialogue is filled with clever put-downs and wordplay, and Grant and Russell continually one-up each other as their characters pursue the biggest story of their careers (and also fall in love again).

In the Heat of the Night

The winner of multiple 1967 Oscars including Best Picture, In the Heat of the Night is a social-issue drama that remains vital and powerful. Sidney Poitier stars as Philadelphia police detective Virgil Tibbs, who finds himself stuck in a small Mississippi town while waiting for a train.

Local police chief Bill Gillespie (Rod Steiger) reluctantly enlists Virgil’s help to solve a murder, and tensions in the town run high over race and class prejudices. The movie challenges those prejudices without ever losing sight of its unique characters or its suspenseful, satisfying mystery.

Licorice Pizza

Paul Thomas Anderson pays tribute to California’s San Fernando Valley in the lovingly nostalgic romance Licorice Pizza . Set in 1973, it stars Cooper Hoffman as a scrappy teenage entrepreneur who falls for a slightly older woman played by musician Alana Haim.

Both of them are somewhat immature, figuring out their lives and their places in Los Angeles’ sprawling, Hollywood-adjacent suburbs. Anderson captures the swooning, often foolish experience of young love alongside the changing social climate in a period of transition for the city and the country.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Peter Jackson’s entire The Lord of the Rings trilogy is an amazing cinematic achievement, but opening installment The Fellowship of the Ring sets the tone and opens up the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. It’s the beginning of the epic quest for the hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood) and his friends to destroy the magical One Ring and defeat the evil Dark Lord Sauron.

Jackson creates a fully realized fantasy setting, often using old-school practical effects to bring to life creatures like dwarfs, elves, and orcs. He captures sweeping vistas and grand battles along with tender interactions among beloved characters.

To Catch a Thief

Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief is more lighthearted than many of the master of suspense’s thrillers, but it’s no less engrossing. Cary Grant plays an expert jewel thief whose retirement is threatened by an impostor robbing wealthy tourists on the French Riviera.

Determined to clear his name, the burglar, known as “the Cat,” decides to catch the real thief. Along the way, he falls in love with a wealthy heiress played by Grace Kelly. It’s a stylish caper that benefits from the stars’ playful chemistry and Hitchcock’s mastery of the camera.

I’ve had 14 holidays for free & saved more than £1k per trip – here’s how

A MUM has revealed how she’s had 14 holidays for free and stayed in places like Spain, France and Belgium without spending a penny.

Anna Bundock, 46, and her husband Pete started going on free holidays seven years ago after the mum-of-two learnt about house swapping.

Anna Told the Sun Online Travel: “I heard about Home Exchange on an WhatsApp group after one of the mums sent a message and filmed a video of them holidaying in someone else’s house.

“The idea of not paying any money for the accommodation was very attractive.”

Since January 2016, the family have been using the house swapping website HomeExchange to swap their three-bedroom end-of-terrace house in south London for holidays abroad.

When Anna listed the family property on the website, she received “lots of requests”.

Soon after the family-of-four went on their first house swap to Switzerland for one week and only needed to pay for their flights.

When they arrived back to the UK, Anna was itching to get another holiday under the family’s belt.

In their first year, the family went on four holidays using house swapping to secure free accommodation during the school holidays .

Over the last seven years, Anna has stayed in 14 places for free and believes she’s saved herself £1,000 per stay in accommodation costs.

The family’s favourite trip was a week away to Gran Canaria in Spain.

Anna said: “We went to this house in Gran Canaria in the Easter holidays after we swapped with an English family who stayed in our home in the summer.”

“This was the best trip because we had the best of both worlds. Not only was our accommodation in an amazing location but it had a swimming pool and was only a short walk to the beach.”

Anna explained that the trick to home exchanges is all about compromise.

She said: “You might end up in a massive house but you might not be near any typical tourist hotspots.

“For example, we stayed in a massive house in Belgium in the middle of nowhere while we enjoyed looking around the surrounding area it wasn’t near any tourist sites.”

The family have also holidayed in Barcelona, and been skiing in France .

As well as trips abroad, Anna and Pete swapped their home for stays in the UK and went to Wales and Northumberland.

Going forward Anna intends to balance her trips so some of them are flight-free in a bid to be more eco-friendly.

But this doesn’t mean that the family are compromising on their holiday savings as they’ve already made exciting plans for the summer holidays.

She said: “Our August holiday has just been approved, we’re staying in a house in Cornwall .”

It’ll be the family’s first time staying in Cornwall with the kids and the property is 5-10 minutes away from the beach.

This isn’t the first time someone has been on a free holiday thanks to house swapping or sitting.

Keith Barker has also used house sitting programmes to travel for the world for free.

In the last 15 years, he’s lived in Mexico , Hawaii, Panama and Portugal without spending a penny on hotels and other accommodation options.

Another couple, who are professional house and pet sitters , in the UK save themselves £1,000 each month by living in other people’s homes for free.

The Wizarding World franchise made famous by the Harry Potter novels and films is getting a big-budget video game adaptation soon, with the release of Hogwarts Legacy. A MUM has gone viral after sharing the ages she was when she had her four children but it is not the ages that’s got everyone talking.

Georgie Fizz is a 35 year old mother of four who runs the account Familyfizz on TikTok.

In a recent video Georgie shared the ages she was when she has her four kids.

When Georgie was 16 she had her eldest daughter Mia. At 22 she had a second daughter Sienna who is 11.

At 30 Georgie and her husband Darren has another daughter Karma who is four. Georgie had her son King Koa in 2020 when she was 31 years old.

Georgie’s video went viral with over 5.4 million views.

Some viewers were shocked that Georgie had her kids so young.

One viewer said: “Help- I thought that the ages where for the kids.”

Another user said: “You was pregnant when you was 16??”

A third commenter confessed: “My mom had me at 41.”

But most of the viewers couldn’t get over the unique names of Georgie’s youngest children.

One user said: “Why did the names just get progressively worse and worse?”
