Iconic game Temple Run is back – and the graphics are so good it could melt your phone

March 20, 2023 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

From The Last Of Us to Resident Evil 4, tons of classic games are getting incredible remasters with next-gen graphics.

Even the classic phone game Temple Run hasn’t missed out on the 4K treatment.

First released in 2011, Temple Run was an early hit game for the iPhone and Android . This ‘endless running’ title saw you control an Indiana Jones-type character as he tried to escape from a temple. It was downloaded and played by millions of people and paved the way for a whole genre of mobile gaming.

Now game developer and Youtuber Fat Dino has rebuilt the popular game from scratch in Unreal Engine 4—and it could be coming to modern phones soon.

Fat Dino shared his work on the project in a YouTube video last month. After creating a controllable character who could run and jump like the original ‘Temple Run’ hero, Fat Dino had to get to work building an ‘endless world’.

He assembled a jaw-dropping game world inspired by the original Temple Run setting then packed it full of obstacles for the player to jump over—including Indiana Jones-style fire pillars, fallen trees, and crumbling pillars.

Fat Dino then added a few twists of his own, replacing the original game’s monkeys with a terrifying dinosaur that pursues the player throughout their run.

Although the remake was just crafted as a hobby project, it could very well make it to our phones and devices soon. Replying to the clip, the official Temple Run channel said: “Absolutely amazing video. We’re honoured to see that you were inspired by our game. We may be reaching out to you soon.”

The original Temple Run was downloaded millions of times on both iPhone and Android, and actually hasn’t gone anywhere since its original release. The game is still available to download on both the iPhone App Store and the Google Play Store.

You could get paid to game as TikTok forks out thousands to players online

March 19, 2023 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

Gaming influencers on TikTok are earning thousands of pounds from each post—as millions of gaming fans tune into see them play.

TikTok’s biggest gamer ‘Lucky Maker’ has over 6.5 million followers and makes an estimated £5245 per post.

According to researchers at Slingo , Lucky Maker is just ahead of gamer Austyn Brown who has 5.8 million followers and rakes in around £4,767 per post.

That’s followed up by Manny Chetrit, who runs the channel called @fortnitetiktoks38. He’s got 2.5 million followers on the platform and earns as much as £1999 per post.

Meanwhile, the UK’s highest-earning TikToker is 18-year-old Kyle Thomas who’s raked in more than 1.5 billion likes on the platform. He makes as much as £28,682 per post despite having less followers than his American gaming counterparts.

If you’re thinking of becoming a mega-wealthy online gamer, there’s a few titles in particular that seem to bring in the most dough.

According to research by Japan101 , the MOBA game League of Legends is the highest earner for Twitch streamers with an average audience of 170,000 people tuning into live games.

Dota 2 is also a big earner for competitive players, with Danish gamer Johan ‘N0tail’ Sundstein raking in £5,962,855 from playing in 130 tournaments.

It’s not clear how much of a market there is for Dota 2 and LoL clips on TikTok though. If the success of the gamers we’ve mentioned are anything to go by, you might be better off honing your skills on Fortnite, Minecraft, or in the case of Austyn Brown, card games.

It also helps to be funny, have a good on-screen personality, and be great at editing. So, unless you’re really really good at all of these things, it might not be time to quit the day job just yet.

Zack Snyder Says A ‘Ridiculous Scale’ Rebel Moon RPG Video Game Is Coming After The Netflix Film

I actually like Zack Snyder movies quite a bit, but man, the guy sure enjoys his hype and hyperbole. A few days ago he was hyping up some sort of Snyder Cut DCEU announcement for April, which everyone now thinks is Netflix buying the rights to the Snyderverse or something (it is not). Today, he’s talking about Rebel Moon, his big-budget sci-fi epic he’s making for Netflix, out at the end of this year.

In an interview with the Nerd Queens podcast (via VGC ), Snyder revealed that Rebel Moon is not just a huge movie, but an animated series and a full-on video game are planned as well. And while Netflix does indeed have a gaming arm, those are usually smaller, mobile-focused games, and that’s not what Snyder says he’s talking about here:

“The one thing that I’m having a really good time with – and I don’t really know if I’m supposed to talk about it – is this RPG that we’re doing that is just literally insane, and so immersive and so intense and so huge. There’s more coming, but all I’ll say is that it was pitched to me – because I’ve always wanted to do an RPG – like, ‘well, we could do it at this scale, or we could do it at ridiculous scale.’ And I was like, ‘ridiculous scale is clearly the scale that we should be doing it.'”

Snyder does acknowledge that a “ridiculous scale RPG” would take “so much time,” and there are no further details about it. Not which studio might be making it, no timeline on it. But it’s happening, apparently. And this is all well before whether or not Rebel Moon will be good or successful. I know all Snyder fans want that to be true, but it’s far from a guarantee.

When you hear the term “ridiculous scale” RPG, only a few examples really come to mind. Bethesda RPGs, Elder Scrolls, Fallout and now Starfield. Or something like Elden Ring, all huge games in scope made by talented teams over a period of many years. If Snyder really is doing this, I hope he’s got one hell of a studio to get this done. But we have no indication of who is even free to make something allegedly this big.

At least they’re not trying to drop the game alongside the movie, as movie tie-in games from decades past were usually pretty bad (with few exceptions) given the corners they had to cut to hit the proper release dates. I suppose the grand plan is for Rebel Moon to become some super sci-fi franchise with sequels and loads of continued investment from Netflix. It’s been compared to Snyder attempting to make his own Star Wars. Again, I’m not sure it’s safe to put this much pressure on this thing.

I will say all the promotional stuff from Rebel Moon looks cool, and it’s one hell of a fantastic cast. And I do like most Snyder movies, though mostly his non-DC stuff. I’m the rare person who even likes Sucker Punch, but if Rebel Moon hits like that movie, all these ambitions are probably in trouble. I guess we’ll have to see what happens.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Getting A “Ridiculous” Tie-In Game

March 20, 2023 by www.gamespot.com Leave a Comment

Director Zack Snyder has revealed that a tie-in video game for his upcoming Netflix sci-fi movie, Rebel Moon, is in the works.

During an interview with The Nerd Queens , the filmmaker was discussing his new movie and spoke about building a new world from scratch for Rebel Moon, the main character Kora, and what a franchise would look like in the future. It was at this point that Snyder confirmed that an open-world RPG based on Rebel Moon is currently in the works and he’s helping with the development.

“The one thing that I’m having a really good time with–and I don’t really know if I’m supposed to talk about it–but, this RPG that we’re doing that is just literally insane, and so immersive and so intense and so huge,” Snyder said.

“…There’s more coming, but all I’ll say is… it was pitched to me, because I’ve always wanted to do an RPG, but they were like ‘We could do it at this scale or we could do it at ridiculous scale.’ And I was like ridiculous scale is clearly the scale that we should be doing it.”

Snyder didn’t reveal which studio is developing the RPG, saying that they told him that “it’s going to take so much time, because we’ve got to all these brain dumps, you’ve got to tell us everything in the universe, what’s happening…” Snyder said he told them, “It’s fine, I’m happy to do it, let’s go all the way.”

The filmmaker ended by saying that the game will feature “a completely realized universe” of Rebel Moon and “it’s really going to be fun” before cutting himself off and saying, “Anyway, I’m not supposed to talk about it.”

Rebel Moon is set to release on Netflix on December 22.
