The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been widely rumoured to have decided to move out of Kensington Palace and relocate with their three children to Adelaide Cottage later this summer. If the move is confirmed, life in this new home will bring quite a few changes in the lives of Kate and William as well as Prince George , Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis .

As a result of this relocation to Windsor, the three Cambridge children have been tipped to leave their schools in London to start attending the preparatory Lambrook School, just a 15-minute drive away from the cottage.

This cottage will also provide more privacy and green space to the growing children of the Duke and Duchess.

Moreover, the cottage is significantly smaller than the four-story Kensington Palace apartment in which the Cambridges have lived over the past few years.

As it is a four-bedroom home, the cottage won’t have a room for the Cambridges’ trusted nanny Maria Teresa Borrallo to stay in.

This will mark the first time since Prince George was an eight-month-old baby that Kate and William won’t have Ms Borrallo living with them.

Highlighting the momentous change in the lives of the five royals, the Telegraph’s Victoria Ward wrote: “While she will remain a key figure in the children’s lives, the relocation to Windsor will usher in a new era for the Cambridge clan.”

Nevertheless, this won’t be the end of Ms Borrallo’s employment with the Duke, Duchess and their three children.

The skilled Norland nanny will remain employed full-time but “will live elsewhere”, Ms Ward notes.

Similarly, Kate and William won’t share their quarters with the live-in support staff they have at Kensington Palace, believed to include a housekeeper and a chef.

Adelaide Cottage is a Grade-II listed home located on the 655-acre Windsor estate.

As it was renovated in 2015, it won’t need any taxpayer-funded work should the Cambridges confirm their move into the cottage.

It is only a short walk away from Windsor Castle, which since the beginning of the pandemic has become the Queen’s main residence.

This home is also much closer to the house of Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, in Bucklebury.

The royal cottage was built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV.

Among its most famous tenants, it has counted Group Captain Peter Townsend, who famously had a relationship with Princess Margaret.

Kate and William will retain both Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall even after their move to Windsor, it has been previously claimed.

Their current London home would become the Cambridges’ working office.

On the other hand, the Norfolk home given to Kate and William by the Queen would continue to be used as a countryside residence on weekends and school holidays.

Kate, William and their children are believed to have spent part of their summer holidays at Sandringham.

They also reportedly spent a fortnight in July on Tresco, a tiny island part of the Scilly archipelago.

Later this month, the Cambridges have been tipped to head north of the border to visit the Queen, who officially took up residence at Balmoral Castle last week.

Prior to returning to Balmoral, the monarch is believed to have stayed for two weeks at Craigowan Lodge.

Her Majesty normally stays in Scotland throughout the months of August and September and returns to England in early or mid-October.

However, if her health allows it, she will interrupt her summer break within a few weeks to return to London and invite the new Conservative Party leader, to be announced on September 5, to form a new Government.

He witnessed George Floyd’s murder. Here’s what he hopes people understand.

May 22, 2021 by www.nbcnews.com Leave a Comment

When Donald Williams II, a professional mixed martial arts fighter, took the witness stand in Derek Chauvin’s murder trial in Minneapolis in March, it had been at least two years since his last fight.

But Williams, a prosecution witness who had watched helplessly as George Floyd died under Chauvin’s knee last May, relied on his fighter instincts.

Williams had mentally prepared himself to enter a different kind of ring — a courtroom. That was evident in his calm responses to contentious questions from Chauvin’s attorney, Eric Nelson, who tried to portray Williams and other onlookers who had shouted at Chauvin to get his knee off of Floyd’s neck as an angry mob .

“You can’t paint me out to be angry,” Williams confidently told Nelson in a notable exchange from the early days of the trial.

But that self-assured response was preceded by months of anguish — a pain that lingers even now, a year after Floyd’s death, said Williams, a lifelong Minneapolis resident.

“I don’t think most of America understands,” he said of the trauma he still experiences. “They kind of see it and hear it, but I don’t think they fully understand that the people that were actually involved, the things that they have to deal with for the rest of their lives or be recognized for for the rest of their lives — you know, someone actually losing their life — that is tough for everybody in the circle.”

Williams, 33, said he has endured many sleepless nights consumed with thoughts of Floyd, as have other bystanders .

Witnessing Floyd’s murder prompted him for the first time in his life to see a therapist, whom he still speaks with regularly. For several months, his therapist was the only person he talked to about the pain he felt from that day, he said.

He also avoided the widely viewed bystander and police body camera videos of Floyd’s detainment that were repeatedly played in court during the trial.

It was only during the trial that Williams heard for the first time audio of his desperate plea to 911 the day of Floyd’s death.

In a recording of the emergency call, Williams could be heard yelling at the officers, “Y’all is murderers, bro!”

He testified that he had “called the police on the police” after Floyd was taken away in an ambulance and told the 911 dispatcher that he believed he’d witnessed a murder.

Despite the passage of time, Floyd’s death continues to ripple outward, touching different facets of Williams’ life.

“It affects my financial situation. It affects my kids. It affects everything that I have going on,” said Williams, also an entrepreneur, whose businesses offer landscaping and snow removal services.

The trial itself was in some ways a testament to his resilience. Nelson, the defense attorney, made repeated attempts to rile and discredit him.

“That tactic, it was appalling to me because for him to try to paint me as an angry Black person and to try to get a rise out of me was pretty disappointing,” Williams said. “But it just really made me understand that it was a championship fight and that it was an opponent in front of me trying to break me, and I just kept my composure because I’ve been through this before as a Black man.”

Williams was at home with his son and daughter when he learned Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted of second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Well before he testified, he said, he had had conversations with his children about the disparate treatment Black people receive from police, which he said he has experienced and witnessed growing up in Minneapolis.

They had prayed together before the verdict was announced.

“It was joyful and just, I guess, sad at the same time,” Williams said. “We were just thankful that the verdict was what it is.”

“I wasn’t necessarily surprised,” he added. “But I wasn’t that severely trusting in the system.”

Though he has not spoken to any of the other bystanders since last May, Williams said he knows they share a collective pain .

“That’s why I just hope that everybody is doing well and is able to move forward,” he said.

Williams, too, is looking to what’s ahead.

He had been fishing with his son at Valentine Lake earlier in the day last May 25 before he went to Cup Foods to get something to drink and happened upon a life-derailing moment.

After spending a year under the weight of trauma, Williams said that on the anniversary of Floyd’s death, he may take another step toward returning to the life he once enjoyed.

“Maybe just be with family again,” he said of his plans for that day. “And try to get some fishing in since I only went once last year.”

The breakdown of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales’ marriage was well-documented as the ‘War of the Waleses’ unfolded back in the Nineties. Their relationship woes dominated the front pages, putting the Royal Family at the centre of a huge scandal. Amid the drama surrounding her marital issues, Diana relied on those closest to her, one of whom was her elder son Prince William , who, even at his young age, provided his mother with a “shoulder to cry on”.

Now, a former royal correspondent has claimed that William not only looked out for his mother, but also his younger brother Prince Harry during the royal fallout. Sky News’ first royal correspondent, claimed that William protected Harry from the details of their parents’ failing relationship. To Di For Daily podcast, Mr McCoy said: “He [William] was much more aware of it [Diana and Charles’ relationship breakdown] because his was the shoulder she [Diana] was crying on.

The seating arrangement followed the pecking order, which meant Meghan and Harry had to be seated in the second row, far from Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and William.

They reportedly did not exchange a word or even make eye contact during the event, with the Sussexes only stopping briefly to chat with Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips before heading back to Windsor.

And one royal expert has claimed there are slender prospects of reconciliation between William and Harry.

Speaking to the Daily Beast earlier this month, Andrew Morton said: “I very much doubt they will be reconciled. There is a lot of wishful thinking about this.”

The author of ‘Diana: Her True Story’ continued: “The closest parallel is George VI and Edward VIII.

“ George VI adored his brother, like Harry adored William, they were inseparable, but then he abdicated, moved abroad and the relationship was never the same again.

“William and Harry are in a similar situation.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been spending time with their three beloved children over the past few weeks, since the end of the school term. Kate , William and their children have reportedly spent a fortnight in July on Tresco, part of the Scilly archipelago, where they celebrated the birthday of Prince George .

The family of five are also believed to have spent some of their time off from school and royal duties at their residence in Sandringham, Anmer Hall.

However, there is still one holiday destination the Duke, Duchess and the three little Cambridges are expected to reach before the end of the summer and a monumental change in their life.

Royal expert Victoria Ward said: “Since schools broke up in July, the Cambridges have enjoyed a UK-based holiday and have been spending time at their Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

“In the coming weeks, they will travel to Scotland for their annual summer break with the Queen at Balmoral before returning to settle into Adelaide Cottage ahead of the new school term.”

The Queen took up residence at Balmoral Castle last week.

She had been north of the border for already a fortnight, during which she is believed to have stayed at Craigowan Lodge.

Her Majesty sparked health concerns after it was shared she would not publicly take part in the traditional welcome ceremony taking place every year outside of Balmoral Castle upon her arrival.

The ceremony and the guard inspection still took place, albeit privately.

A source later said the military inspection was carried out behind closed doors for Her Majesty’s “comfort”.

They said: “This is a change in line with events being adapted for Her Majesty’s comfort”.

During her Balmoral stay, the monarch normally invites many of her relatives to stay with her.

Among the frequent visitors there are Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Prince Edward and their children Lady Louis and James, Viscount Severn.

Prince Andrew also travels every year to the Queen’s Scottish residence.

Last year, the Cambridges spent the last week of August at Balmoral, marking their first Scottish royal get-together since the death of Prince Philip.

A source said: “William, Kate, and the children have been enjoying some family time in Scotland and they have just spent some special time with the Queen.

“They always enjoy going up to Balmoral, they love the outdoors and walking in the hills and spending quality time with family.

If Kate and William’s relocation to Windsor is confirmed, the Cambridges will have a few hectic days ahead prior to the beginning of the school year in which they will need to settle in their new home.

The family of five has been tipped to have chosen Adelaide Cottage as their new home, a Grade-II listed residence located on the 655-acre estate of Windsor.

The four-bedroom house was last renovated in 2015.

Among its most famous tenants, it counts Queen Adelaide, the wife of King William IV for whom the house was built in 1831, and Group Captain Peter Townsend.

Kate and William’s main residence has been Kensington Palace since the summer of 2017, when the Duke gave up his role as air ambulance pilot based in Norfolk.

Even if they moved to Berkshire, the Cambridges would reportedly retain Anmer Hall as a countryside home and Kensington Palace as their working office.

William and Kate had several options but chose four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage on the royal estate at Windsor as their new home and best fit for their plans to escape living in what they regard as a goldfish bowl at Kensington Palace. But that meant there was no room for Ms Borrallo, who has worked for the Cambridges since 2014 and will continue to do so. Senior royal aides intend to find her a separate place to live on the Windsor estate so that she is still close by.

Until now Ms Borrallo has been a live-in nanny at Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall, their 10-bedroom country retreat in Norfolk.

It is understood that, ideally, William and Kate would have liked to have found her a room in their new home, as they regard her as a much-loved member of the family.

They had several options but downsizing from their 21-room apartment at Kensington Palace to the relatively modest Adelaide Cottage fitted best with their plans to create as normal a life as possible, according to a well-placed source.

William and Kate, both 40, intend to move their children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, to school in Berkshire. In their new home they will be only 10 minutes away from the Queen at Windsor Castle and a short drive from Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton at Bucklebury.

Adelaide Cottage, which has an adjoining but uninhabitable lodge built into a hillside, falls within the perimeter of the royal estate so will be protected by existing security arrangements at Windsor.

The royal couple, who are expected to keep Kensington Palace as their official residence and office and Anmer as a country hideaway, have vowed there will be no extra cost to the taxpayer from the move. It is understood there will be no need to build accommodation in the grounds for police bodyguards, as they did at Anmer.
