‘I’m a witch and one guy thought I could fly – Emma Watson’s admission is huge’

May 11, 2023 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been praised by a real witch for talking about the spellbinding effects rituals and astrology have had on her life.

The star, who played magical schoolgirl Hermione Granger, revealed last month her life had changed thanks to Saturn’s return.

She wrote online: “Thank you to the witches in my coven who were so pivotal in helping me arrive at where and who I am now.”

Author of new book The Witch’s Apothecary, Lorriane Anderson, says: “The witch movement is like a civil rights movement – we want to be accepted the same way everyone else is.

“To touch on what Emma Watson said, your Saturn return is an astrological version of a midlife crisis.

“It’s about looking at everything in your life which is not really for you, the things you need to let go and find more authenticity so the second half of your life can be aligned with purpose and your deepest mission in life.

“The fact Emma is saying this is ‘wow’.”

LA-based Lorriane is a tarot reader, astrologer, spiritual teacher and runs her own mystical store Spirit Element.

She says: “I follow cosmic DNA. Astrology, which is the study of planets and astrological signs, is the same thing from an energy perspective. If you look at your birth chart you can get a better understanding of what your personality is and working towards.”

While some people might get their view of magic from movies such as Harry Potter, Lorriane reckons modern-day witches are far from those depicted inside Hogwarts.

She says: “I don’t think the world’s understanding of a witch is correct.

“When I first started getting into this, my brother-in-law asked me with a serious face, ‘Can you fly?’

“That made me really understand how little people fully know what it means to be a witch.

“They really are looking at it from a perspective of pointy hats, flying and waving a magic wand. There are so many ways to experience witchcraft.

“I hope people educate each other and the movement continues to grow.”

In her new book, Lorriane shows how to use spiritual practices to transform your life.

She says: “Everyone’s energy affects your potion spell. If you don’t believe you’re worthy of receiving what you want, you’re probably not going to get it.

“The book is broken down into three sections – why you would want to do it, the things you need to get started – tools and ingredients – and what it means to have a spiritual apothecary.

“In the back of the book, I’ve broken it down with the Wheel of the Year, which are the essentially witchy seasons.”

After making beauty potions at school, Lorriane started exploring planetary energies and spirituality to turn her interests into a career.

The 34-year-old says: “Everyone’s witchy practice is different.

“We’re all on a spiritual journey whether you acknowledge it or not.

“At its core, witchcraft and spirituality is about being a better version of you. You don’t have to renounce your religious beliefs. I still pray and have my Bible.

“This is another pathway to live the best life I can with witchcraft, one of those tools.”

Through her tarot and oracle readings, Lorriane has connected with lost loved ones from beyond the grave

She says: “I believe everyone is able to connect with their ancestor if that’s something they want to do. We’re an incredibly intelligent species but there’s a lot we don’t know about the afterlife and death.

“I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think someone can contact us from the afterlife.

“Signs like feathers are an easy way for a loved one to say, ‘I’m looking out for you’.”

Potion-making ritual

Cleanse your space in whatever way you feel called to. Gather something that represents your intention, hold in your hands or print a photo and write the name of it on a sheet or paper.

Say: “I humbly ask (whatever your tool/ingredient is) to share with me your wisdom. I will do my best to honour your guidance in the way that it is intended.”

Close eyes and allow guidance to come to you until you feel it is time to end. When done, say thanks for being trusted with wisdom and write down everything you remember.

7 Reasons to Use a Name Generator for Fictional Characters in Writing

May 28, 2023 by www.chiangraitimes.com Leave a Comment

Creating compelling and memorable characters is a crucial aspect of storytelling, and one of the most important elements in character development is their name. A well-chosen name can convey personality traits, cultural background, or even foreshadow the character’s destiny. In this article, we will explore the art of finding the best names for your fictional characters, with a focus on utilizing the Harry Potter Name Generator as a valuable tool in your creative process.

Understand Your Character:

Before diving into the world of name generation, take the time to deeply understand your character. Consider their personality, motivations, background, and role in the story. Understanding these aspects will help you choose a name that resonates with their identity and enhances their presence in your narrative.

Name Generator for Fictional Characters in Writing

Research Names with Meaning:

Names hold cultural, historical, and linguistic significance. Look into different cultures and time periods to find names that align with your character’s traits or evoke the desired emotions. Delve into mythologies, folklore, and historical figures for inspiration. By incorporating names with meaning, you can add depth and richness to your character’s identity.

Try Fictional Generators:

The fictional generators such as Harry Potter Name Generator can be an excellent resource for finding unique and enchanting names for your characters. It offers a wide range of options inspired by J.K. Rowling’s magical world. By combining various components such as first names, surnames, and even house affiliations, you can create names that resonate with the fantastical realm of Harry Potter. Experiment with different combinations until you discover the perfect name that captures the essence of your character.

Consider Phonetic Harmony:

The sound of a name can greatly impact how readers perceive a character. Consider the phonetic harmony of the name by examining the combination of consonants and vowels. Experiment with different sounds to find a name that rolls off the tongue and feels natural. A well-crafted name can enhance the memorability and likability of your character.

Avoid Stereotypes and Clichés:

While drawing inspiration from existing sources can be helpful, be cautious of falling into clichéd or stereotypical naming patterns. Strive for originality to make your characters stand out. Avoid overused tropes associated with specific genres or character types. Instead, seek fresh combinations and unconventional choices that will make your characters truly unique.

Test the Name’s Resonance:

Once you have narrowed down potential names, test their resonance by saying them aloud or sharing them with others. Hearing the name spoken can provide valuable insights into its suitability for your character. Additionally, seek feedback from beta readers or writing communities to gauge their reactions and ensure the name aligns with your intended portrayal.

Trust Your Instincts:

Ultimately, trust your instincts and intuition. As the creator of your characters, you possess a deep understanding of their essence. If a name resonates with you and aligns with your character’s identity, it will likely resonate with readers as well.

Conclusion:

Choosing the perfect name for your fictional characters is a creative journey that requires research, inspiration, and a touch of intuition. By understanding your character’s traits, exploring names with meaning, and utilizing resources like the Harry Potter Name Generator, you can discover unique and resonant names that will bring your characters to life. ALISON BOSHOFF: Documentary detailing the history of Warner Bros set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival

May 26, 2023 by www.dailymail.co.uk Leave a Comment

Anyone with a serious interest in film will be entertained (and amazed) by a gorgeous four-part documentary 100 Years Of Warner Bros: from Bette Davis bursting in on Jack Warner on the loo, to Oliver Stone getting death threats over JFK.

The doc was made by Oscar-nominee Leslie Iwerks, whose grandfather drew Mickey Mouse for Walt Disney.

In Cannes this week — where the picture is being shown — she told me she interviewed around 60 film icons for her project, including George Clooney , Baz Luhrmann and Oprah Winfrey.

Meanwhile the company’s CEO David Zaslav threw an epic party at the Hotel Du Cap for a chosen few.

Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter was the co-host and arranged for a Perspex sheet to be placed just under the surface of the hotel’s infinity pool, so scenes from great WB films of the past 100 years could be projected onto it.

Wow: Anyone with a serious interest in film will be entertained (and amazed) by a gorgeous four-part documentary 100 Years Of Warner Bros: from Bette Davis (left) bursting in on Jack Warner (right) on the loo, to Oliver Stone getting death threats over JFK

The lavish event had its critics, given that the company is in the middle of global lay-offs, not to mention the financial pains of the writers strike.

Channelling his inner Marie Antoinette, Carter said: ‘If there is a writer who is here, striking outside the gates, and they’re well dressed, I will invite them in.

‘This party is a celebration of their work, so I hope there are no incidents.’

Among celebrity guests were Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sting and Tom Hanks with his wife Rita Wilson.

On April 4, 1923, Warner Bros was founded and today, it stands as one of the world’s biggest movie production companies with some of its top hits including The Dark Knight Trilogy and the Harry Potter franchise.

The brainchild of the four Warner brothers – Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack – the company started out at 5842 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood before moving to a sprawling site in Burbank, California, where it remains to this day.

The siblings – who were four of 12 children and whose parents emigrated from Poland – pursued their love of film while living in Youngstown, Ohio.

They toured throughout the state and neighboring Pennsylvania showing movies, before purchasing several theatres and moving into film distribution.

After establishing their eponymous brand, Harry served as the company’s president working out of New York City, while Albert kept track of the finances and the Sam and Jack oversaw the studio side of things.

PLATELL’S PEOPLE: This was the week that the Just Stop Oil zealots lost the plot

May 27, 2023 by www.dailymail.co.uk Leave a Comment

As a nation of garden lovers, we have been revelling in the recent warm weather.

The wisteria with its heavenly scent may be over for many of us but our beds and borders are bursting into bloom with peonies, roses, Lady’s mantle and so much more.

It’s the most glorious time of year, the greens are vibrant, the flowers speckled with dew and the Chelsea Flower Show has seduced us again with its stunning displays.

Except this year there was also the sight of puerile, selfish Just Stop Oil protesters doing their best to destroy an eco-friendly garden.

The three women throwing orange powder paint at the exhibit from their handbags certainly made me see red. So, hurrah for the passer-by who turned a hose on the garden-wrecking demonstrators to douse their protest. Sadly she was stopped by a security guard while the protesters continued unchallenged.

What struck me was just how stupid this self-righteous trio were.

The three women threw orange powder paint at the garden exhibit from their handbags

Puerile, selfish Just Stop Oil protesters doing their best to destroy an eco-friendly garden

First of all, it was a sustainable garden planned specifically to demonstrate that gardening can benefit the planet.

Secondly, the gardening community are exactly the kind of people eco-protesters should be engaging with, rather than enraging — for we all want to encourage birds and bees and do our best to be green. And then there’s these idiots’ decision to attack Chelsea at all, the flagship event in the Royal Horticultural Society’s calendar. For the RHS has been bending over backwards to boost wild gardening over more traditional practices, suggesting weeds such as dandelions should trump our cherished delphiniums.

Top prize this year went to a wheelchair accessible garden — which is deeply ironic considering that one of the three Just Stop Oil protesters is Rosa Hicks, 28, a disability support worker. What abject hypocrisy.

But then stupidity and hypocrisy are a common theme among these kinds of protesters. This week, animal rights nutters kidnapped three lambs from King Charles’s Sandringham estate to ‘rescue’ them. How can snatching terrified creatures away from their mothers be seen as anything other than cruelty?

There hasn’t been a week like this for sheer dumb-headedness among the eco-morons. Chelsea was the moment they finally lost the plot.

Help for Holly…

In her final message to Phillip Schofield, This Morning’s Holly Willoughby tweeted ‘the sofa won’t feel the same without him’ signing off with a pink heart emoji which means girl power. Given what we’ve just learned about Schofield, who quit ITV yesterday after admitting he lied to colleagues about a relationship with a younger man, she needs all the girl power she can get.

Ad is a boob by Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein launch their new underwear range with a picture of a man wearing a woman’s sports bra and the tagline ‘this is love’.

No, this is gross — and what woman would seriously want to wear a bra paraded by an obese bloke with more chest hair than King Kong?

After a search of a reservoir just miles from where Madeleine McCann disappeared, police have found ‘relevant clues’. Her parents Gerry and Kate now have an agonising wait as tests are carried out in Germany, possibly trying to identify shreds of her pink Eeyore pyjamas. Sixteen years after Maddie disappeared, who can even begin to imagine their continuing heartbreak?

Struggling Instagram cook Brooklyn Beckham endorses chef’s gear, emblazoned with the Beckham brand. A wooden spoon award for the soft little ‘Nepo-baby’. He can’t even flog an apron without his parents’ name on it.

Amid all the wreckage of Hollywood marriages, how wonderful to see Tom Hanks, 66, at Cannes loved-up with his wife of 35 years Rita Wilson. No coincidence that in almost all his movies, including Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia, Sully, Forrest Gump and Castaway, he’s the good guy.

Model Orla Sloan who ‘seductively’ styles herself as Devil Baby had a one-night stand with Chelsea footballer Mason Mount before stalking him. She’s been convicted and awaits sentence. There should be no leniency for loony women, however hot they look in a bikini. If a man stalked a woman, he’d be locked away.

In a melee of models such as Irina Shayk (wearing almost nothing) at Cannes, Nicole Scherzinger stood out in a comparatively demure gown leaving plenty to the imagination. Which makes you wonder in this era of female emancipation why some women still feel they have to dress like hookers.

Puffed-up football pundit Gary Lineker proudly accepts a ludicrous humanitarian award for supporting migrants in apparent contravention of impartiality rules at the BBC where he is paid £1.35 million.

Taking a numpty award, celebrating his own proclamations . . . is this vainglorious former footballer turning into Meghan Markle?

Tina belonged to us all

An outpouring of grief after the death of Tina Turner, an icon who managed to thrive after years of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Ike. While women of black ancestry are understandably clamouring to claim Tina as their own, as a star celebrated not just for her voice but also her kindess, Tina belonged to all of us.

Simply the best.

A weird world where woke Oxford University students cancel female speakers with views on biological women they disagree with, yet appear unconcerned about a speech by ex-porn star Stormy Daniels who had an affair with Donald Trump.

Despite trying to cancel J.K. Rowling over her views on transgender women, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson must admit defeat. Her Harry Potter adaptations are in the top ten most watched Netflix films. The two ingrates must remember the Hogwarts motto ‘never tickle a sleeping dragon’.

Westminster Wars

The new Partygate investigation into Boris is a civil service stitch-up with the PM’s fingerprints all over it. Don’t the Tories realise that every time they attack the man who won a stonking majority and Brexit, they remind us how wishy washy Rishi is?

It took Sunak three days to clear Suella Braverman of accusations by unnamed civil servants that she broke the ministerial code by asking for advice over a speeding fine. Why so long? He was probably too busy reading his latest Jilly Cooper novel trying to learn how to be a real man.

Bravery only women know

BBC Five Live presenter Naga Munchetty bravely reveals she suffers from the rarely diagnosed condition adenomyosis, which leaves women with agonising, pain during their periods. Doctors dismiss it, as both she and I found out.

After my third scan the nurse said I should stop wasting NHS time. I went private and was told the condition was so severe the only ‘cure’ was a hysterectomy — a bitter pill to swallow as I desperately wanted children. Am just thinking that if a man was living in such pain, NHS staff may have been a bit more sympathetic and diligent.

The sun shines, black ants invade. Yesterday my kitchen surfaces were swarming with insects. I learnt from my grandpa Ted that we must deter not kill these noble creatures which have family values. The secret is a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water wiped on surfaces. Detect their point of entry and smother it with white chalk. For some reason ants hate white chalk — which in this day and age takes us into murky waters.
