Eli Manning suggested he had high hopes for Daniel Jones as the New York Giants quarterback learns a new offense from a new head coach – his third in four years.

Manning had high praise for Brian Daboll, who is taking the reins from Joe Judge, and said he was excited to see what Jones can do in the new scheme.

“I think with Coach Daboll, and what they’re doing, and that staff, and (new GM) Joe Schoen, having been around the facility some, the atmosphere has changed,” Manning told the NFL Network on Friday. “So I’m excited for Daniel, I know he’s worked extremely hard, and you know, been through a lot of offenses, a lot of coaching changes, so hopefully this can be the right one.”

Daboll’s claim to fame was what he was able to do with Josh Allen while he was an offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Allen turned into a top-flight quarterback over the last two years. Jones and Allen are both 6-foot-5 with the ability to scoot.

The big difference has been Jones’ inability to stay healthy over the course of a 16- or 17-game season. The Giants quarterback has never played more than 14 games in a season since he became the full-time starter after Manning’s retirement. Over the course of three seasons, he’s recorded 8,398 yards with 45 touchdown passes and 29 interceptions.

Additionally, the Giants’ inability to find success at head coach has been an issue. Jones started with Pat Shurmur as a rookie in 2019 before the team eventually moved to Judge and later Daboll.

Manning played under Tom Coughlin for most of his career before the team went to Ben McAdoo and Shurmur.

“By my fifth year, I had been in the same offense the whole time, I knew it, I could coach it up, new guys are coming in, I was speaking the same language as my offensive coordinator and as (former head coach Tom) Coughlin, and kind of preaching the same stuff,” Manning added. “And with (Jones), it’s all new, and it’s learning, and he’s consistently trying to learn and learn and learn, and it just takes some time before it all sinks in.”

Jones is entering a prove-it year with the Giants. The team did not pick up his fifth-year option, and it could be now or never for him to really step up and make a difference for New York.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid: Black RNC Speakers ‘Trotted Out To Make White Americans Feel Good About White Nationalism’ | The Daily Wire

August 28, 2020 by www.dailywire.com Leave a Comment

The Republican National Convention featured a number of influential black Americans, from NFL great Herschel Walker to civil rights figure Clarence Henderson to Kentucky’s first Attorney General Daniel Cameron. Despite their passionate and unifying speeches, Joy Reid of MSNBC feels they were invited to make white people “feel good about white nationalism.”

In a tweet on Thursday, Reid shared an article from Elie Mystal at the far-left publication The Nation , which argued that the black speakers were simply there to put white people at ease when supporting “a bigot.”

“If you read one thing today, this would be a good choice. ⁦[Elie] writes about the outrage and pathos of the Black people the #RNCConvention trotted out to make white Americans feel good about white nationalism,” she tweeted.

— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) August 27, 2020

In the piece, Elie disparaged Walker, Henderson, and others, describing them as “black tokens” who were there to simply say “thank you” to their white overlords.

“The Black people who were allowed to speak at this convention were there to transmit one message to white listeners: ‘It’s OK.’ Trump’s racism is OK, because here’s one of Trump’s Black golfing buddies,” he wrote. “Cops and vigilantes’ shooting black people is OK, because here’s a Black ex-con who complied with the police and is still alive. Caring only about your own pocketbook and 401(k) is OK, because here’s a Black guy who started his own business and made a lot of money. All of them wanted to talk about their individual experiences with Trump. None of them wanted to talk about systemic issues facing Black people who don’t have the benefit of knowing a Trump (or a Kardashian) personally.”

As supposed evidence for this, Elie pointed out that the black speakers “wanted nothing” and offered no agenda.

“The banality of these Black validators can be seen most clearly when you compare their roles to what the white speakers were allowed to do at the convention,” he wrote. “Think of it this way: Most of the white speakers came armed with some agenda. They wanted more farm subsidies or fewer abortions or more Jesus in schools or the right to shoot Black people walking past their homes. But the Black speakers seemingly wanted nothing. There were no additional policies they desired or issues they wanted addressed. They had no goals they wanted the next Trump administration to accomplish and no legislation they wanted Republicans to pass. Instead of an agenda, the Black people were just there to say, ‘Thank you, white [sic] folks,’ and fade off-screen.”

Elie writes that he feels much “anger” for these “tokens,” mostly due to the fact that they spoke out in defense of President Trump allegedly for profit, going as far as comparing them to Judas Iscariot.

“What anger I have for this particular crop of Black tokens comes from the fact that so many of them volunteered,” he wrote. “These were not schoolboys trying to get by at prep school or single moms trying to hang onto their jobs. These were grown-ass adults, predominantly men, who could have sat this grift out but raised their hands to confirm white bias and quote scripture while doing it. We know Trump doesn’t like to pay his debts, so I hope they got their 30 pieces of silver up front.”

WATCH: MSNBC Host Calls Black Speakers At RNC ‘A Modern-Day Minstrel Show’ | The Daily Wire

August 30, 2020 by www.dailywire.com Leave a Comment

On Sunday, substituting for host Joy Reid on MSNBC’s “Morning Joy,” host Tiffany Cross disparagingly referred to the speakers of color at the Republican National Convention, including Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker, as “minstrels,” snapping, “It really did look like a modern-day minstrel show to me.”

Cross preceded her nasty remark by playing clips of various speakers of color, starting with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who stated in her speech, “In much of the Democratic Party, it’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.”

Cross followed with a clip of Walker asserting, “Growing up in the Deep South, I’ve seen racism up close. I know what it is, and it isn’t Donald Trump.”

The next clip featured Scott saying, “Our family went from cotton to Congress in one lifetime, and that’s why I believe the next American century can be better than the last.”

Cross pontificated, “That was not a Saturday Night Live sketch. Welcome back to AM Joy. I’m Tiffany Cross. If you watched the Republican National Convention last week, you’d almost think that the Republican Party was the one welcoming people of color, given the big display of diversity. The convention featured more than a dozen African American speakers alone.”

“But—don’t be fooled that the party of Trump has suddenly warmed to the same people that Trump’s policies and sometimes his rhetoric directly harms,” she continued. “As friend of the show Elie Mystal wrote so eloquently in The Nation, ‘Republicans invited a cadre of professional black friends to validate Donald Trump and make white people feel a little less racist while still very much supporting white supremacy.’”

Cross mocked, “I mean, I watched the Republican convention, and seeing the slew of black speakers that they had, it really did look like a modern-day minstrel show to me.”

Merriam-Webster defines a “minstrel” as a “member of a type of performance troupe caricaturing black performers that originated in the U.S. in the early 19th century. NOTE: The acts of minstrels, who typically performed in blackface , featured exaggerated and inaccurate representations of black people in songs, dances, and comic dialogue. The popularity of minstrel shows in their heyday played a significant role in promoting negative racial stereotypes. Professional minstrel shows had fallen out of favor and effectively disappeared by the mid-20th century.”

The accusation that speakers of color at the Republican National Convention constitute a “minstrel show” goes back years. In 2003, New York Times opinion writer Maureen Dowd, referring to the 2000 convention that nominated George W. Bush, wrote of “W.’s nominating convention in Philadelphia, when the Republicans put on a minstrel show for the white fat cats in the audience.”

As radio host Larry Elder wrote in February 2012 of black Republican Michael Steele running for lieutenant governor of Maryland:

… he was derided as “Simple Sambo” and depicted as a black-faced minstrel. At a gubernatorial debate, Oreo cookies were distributed by the opposition. The Washington Times later wrote: “Delegate Salima Siler Marriott, a black Baltimore Democrat, said Mr. Steele invites comparisons to a slave who loves his cruel master or a cookie that is black on the outside and white inside because his conservative political philosophy is, in her view, anti-black.”

“I watched the Republican convention, and seeing the slew of black speakers that they had, it really did look like A MODERN-DAY MINSTREL SHOW to me.”

This Morning’s Holly and Phil in shock as they listen to noisy sex session of couple slammed by their neighbours

June 23, 2022 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

HOLLY Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left in shock as they listened to a couple’s noisy sex session live on air.

Couple Lydia Barker and Billy Brown appeared on the show to talk about being slammed by their neighbours for their loud lovemaking.

After quizzing the couple on the allegations, Holly and Phil then revealed they’d asked them to record audio of them having sex.

The hosts were left open-mouthed after listening to the action through headphones, will Holly remarking: “You definitely like to talk to each other during your love-making!”

She suggested: “Maybe the complaints was about the words you were actually shouting.”

Joking Billy replied: “Yeah she never shuts up!”

Phil asked the couple if the complaints would change things for them going forward.

Billy revealed it had made them more aware of things when having sex now, like the windows being open.

The couple – who were appearing live from their bedroom – then told a stunned Holly and Phil that they’d already been at it that day – kicking things off a 6.30am session.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun earlier this week Lydia admitted they were at it “morning, noon and night” but said: “It’s not as if I’m a screamer.”

She and Billy were furious at the complainer going straight to the housing association rather than speaking to them.

The neighbour, who asked not to be named, told how she is recently divorced — and a bit envious.

She said: “I’m on my own, and I’m just a bit jealous.

“It’s not just me that hears it, but lots of neighbours.”

Days of Our Lives fans shocked as TWO key characters leave the show – with first surprise exit this week

June 27, 2022 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

DAYS of Our Lives couple Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey are both bidding farewell to Salem.

Sal (Lani) will be leaving the NBC soap opera on July 1, while Lamon (Eli) is exiting the series the week of July 4, Soap Opera Digest revealed.

Sal joined Days of Our Lives in 2015 as Abe’s (James Reynolds) presumed daughter Lani.

Lamon, meanwhile, was introduced as Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) grandson Eli Grant in 2017.

Eli and Lani found love on the show after a rough start – and some interference from people like Gabi (Camila Banus) – and married and welcomed twins.

Lani found herself in hot water after she shot and killed her biological father T.R. (William Christian).

Eli urged his wife to let her mother Paulina (Jackée Harry) take the heat for the crime.

However, Lani couldn’t take the guilt and confessed to the murder in the middle of Paulina and Abe’s wedding.

Sal’s departure suggests things didn’t go well for Lani and she ended up in prison.

However, Eli also exiting Salem indicates that maybe she got off with the crime and the couple decided to leave town to make a fresh start.

GOODBYE LANI

Discussing her exit, Sal told Soap Opera News : “I’m going to miss telling her story.

“I genuinely love her story – the good, the bad, the flaws, the ugly, the pretty – she’s a powerful woman and she didn’t start that way”.

Sal got her big break as the winner of cycle nine of America’s Next Top Model.

She made her daytime debut in the role of All My Children’s Cassandra Foster in 2013.

Her other credits include The Fosters, Switched at Birth, Major Crimes, and New Girl.
