June 29, 2022 by en.qdnd.vn Leave a Comment

Over the past years, under the direction of Military Region 3’s Party Committee and Command, agencies and units under the military region have effectively carried out the CMC’s resolutions. As a result, the awareness and responsibility of Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels and troops of training mission have been heightened, and training quality have been enhanced, contributing to raising the strength and combat readiness capabilities of the military region.

Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong lauded Military Region 3 for their outstanding outcomes in actualizing Resolution 765-NQ/QUTW. In particular, the military region has comprehensively fulfilled training missions and won high results at competitions.

The chief of the General Staff also pointed out shortcomings in training work that Military Region 3 and units in the whole military need addressing in the coming time.

Having mentioned key missions of the military in the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong asked the military region’s Party Committee and Command to foster leadership to help agencies and units under the military region to well fulfill military and defense missions in general and training work in particular.

He added that the military region’s armed forces should promote the application of IT to training activities, foster inspection to prevent “achievement disease” in training, enhance the coordination among forces, and pay attention to raising the quality of exercises.

After the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong chaired a meeting to evaluate Military Region 3’s preparation for and organization of the conference on reviewing ten-year implementation of Resolution 765-NQ/QUTW. The Chief of the General Staff asked units and agencies in the whole military to learn from Military Region 3’s experience to better prepare and organize their conferences and develop measures to raise the quality of training and combat readiness. He also asked agencies and units to objectively and accurately evaluate their outcomes in training and propose measures to enhance the effectiveness of training to meet task requirements in the new period.

One Twitter user @MichalNiebly said: “This how missiles explode – white smoke, firework-style burning chunks. It was most likely a rocket launcher (Grad/Uragan or even a SAM), or a stockpile of rockets.”

Brigadier Chris King, from 104 Logistic Support Brigade, said: “It changed over Easter when we saw the massacres in Bucha.

“You see the scenes and you feel that you want to help. It is a generational moment.

“We either help Ukraine to fight or we accept that maybe not straight away, but in the next few years, we are going to be fighting somewhere else.

“If we don’t do enough, we will sow the seeds of future conflicts.

“We are planning into the years to come.

“I don’t think it is going to be over quickly. But how the conflict evolves is too early to tell.

“As we saw in 2014, it never really stopped.

“We have got to get to a position where we sustain Ukraine otherwise we might have to do it somewhere else.”

Israeli military tech allows soldiers to ‘see through walls’ in terrifying development

June 28, 2022 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

An Israeli military tech company has created a new gadget which will enable the military to see through walls.

The Camero Xaver 1000 uses artificial intelligence -based tracking to detect live objects and people behind walls and buildings, and even tells users whether the object is an adult, a child or an animal.

This ‘easy-to-use’ system features a 10-inch touch screen and promises X-ray vision through walls “at the push of a button”.

Billed as a tool for both the military and the emergency services, it even lets users know the number of people inside a building, their height and orientation, and maps the layout of a room itself.

The company behind the invention, Camero Tech , said: “The Xaver 1000 is an essential system for military, law enforcement, search & rescue teams and intelligence units, operating in various situations including hostile urban and disaster environments.

“The system creates an unprecedented situational awareness 3D visual picture, providing a clear operational advantage and the ability to ‘step into the knowns’.”

It’s unclear where the X-ray gadget will be deployed. However, Israel—where the company is based—sees millions of pounds of investment every year in advanced military technology and weaponry.

The country currently uses facial recognition tech to spy on Palestinians in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank of Jerusalem.

Using smartphone technology called Blue Wolf, the Israeli military has reportedly gathered thousands of photos of Palestinians for years and put this into a giant database which is used to keep tabs on, and arrest, local residents.

Meanwhile, in the city of Hebron, soldiers use CCTV cameras with face-scanning tech to identify Palestinians before they even reach armoured checkpoints placed by the IDF.

Chris Pratt explained the importance of correctly and honorably portraying the military ahead of the drop of his new Prime Video series “The Terminal List.”

Pratt stars as a Navy SEAL in “The Terminal List” along with co-star Taylor Kitsch. Pratt’s character returns home after his Navy SEAL platoon is ambushed to find his loved ones are in danger, according to the show’s synopsis.

The “Zero Dark Thirty” star explained how portraying a military character is different than a superhero in a recent interview.

“What makes these men so particularly special is their mortality,” Pratt said. “You know, they step into these fights knowing they can die. They don’t do it because they have a bulletproof vest and they’re faster than a speeding bullet … These are guys who have each others’ backs and who routinely do sacrifice their lives in the line of duty.”

Venezuelan opposition officials say aid will test military’s loyalty to Maduro

February 12, 2019 by www.cbsnews.com Leave a Comment

Washington — Representatives of National Assembly President Juan Guaidó, who has been recognized by the U.S. and more than four dozen countries as Venezuela’s legitimate leader, believe the humanitarian aid being dispatched to the crisis-stricken South American nation will test the Venezuelan military’s loyalty for President Nicolás Maduro.

As shipping containers block the main highways near the border with neighboring Colombia, two of Guaidó’s top diplomats told CBS News the nation’s armed forces will soon face a critical choice: enforce Maduro’s orders to stop international humanitarian assistance — or defect and allow the aid to reach a Venezuelan population grappling with widespread food and medicine shortages.

“This will be a key moment for the military to see which side they will be on,” Carlos Vecchio, Guaidó’s ambassador to the U.S., told CBS News. “If they will be with the Maduro regime, which is not going anywhere … or if they will stay with the Venezuelans who need that food and medicine.”

Along with recognizing Guaidó as Venezuela’s interim president and issuing sweeping sanctions against the largest state-owned oil company, the Trump administration has pledged more than $20 million in humanitarian assistance to the Venezuelan people. Food, hygiene kits and emergency medical supplies shipped by different countries are being staged in the Colombian border town of Cúcuta.

But Maduro, who has managed to maintain a tight grip on Venezuela’s armed forces, adamantly opposes assistance from nations that support Guaidó, who has called for Maduro’s ouster and free elections. He has repeatedly accused the U.S. and its allies in the region of “manufacturing” a humanitarian crisis in his country and warned against American military intervention, which he has said would lead to a conflict worse than the Vietnam War.

Last week, Maduro even launched an anti-aid campaign on social media and denounced the humanitarian assistance as a “poison of humiliation.”

In an interview with CBS News partner network BBC News, Maduro called President Trump a white supremacist and accused the “U.S. empire” of waging a “political war” against Venezuela. He acknowledged that his country has “problems,” but the embattled leader said hunger was not one of them, casting the international aid efforts as a ploy to “humiliate” the Venezuelan people.

“This is part of that charade,” Maduro said. “That’s why, with all dignity, we tell them we don’t want their crumbs, their toxic food, their left-overs. We tell them ‘no, Venezuela has dignity, Venezuela produces and works and our people do not to beg from anyone.'”

Gustavo Tarre, Guaidó’s representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), said Maduro is reluctant to allow the foreign assistance into the country because it would make him and his regime look weak.

“It is an incredible thing that you have a president who has not created the conditions in order for the people to eat and to have the drugs they need when they’re ill, but he doesn’t accept the foreign aid,” Tarre told CBS News “An acceptation of a crisis is an acceptation of a failure of government.”

Tarre added that the critical moment will come if and when supplies start flowing across the border. High-ranking military officials will have to decide whether to follow orders or allow the desperately-needed supplies to enter the country.

“If they are the normal guards, I’m sure they won’t open fire, but if they have the people motivated by the government, that’s the risk,” Tarre said. “But we still think that if you have hundreds of thousands of people behind waiting for food … they are going to allow the trucks to pass.”

Oil-rich Venezuela was once considered one of Latin America’s wealthiest nations. But under Maduro — who in 2013 replaced the late Hugo Chavez, another leftist firebrand accused of consolidating power — economic turmoil, skyrocketing inflation , food and medicine shortages, mounting crime and government corruption have plunged the country deep into a socio-political crisis.

To stifle discontent over the floundering economy, weakened further by international sanctions and plummeting oil production, Maduro has resorted to political oppression and reportedly, even torture . Recent elections in the country have been denounced by United States and the international community as unfair and rigged.

The dire situation has prompted more than 2.3 million Venezuelans to flee the country since 2014 — an exodus Human Rights Watch called “the largest migration crisis of its kind in recent Latin American history.” More than one million Venezuelans have fled to Colombia, hundreds of thousands to Peru, Ecuador and other countries in the region and more than 72,000 have come to the U.S.

With many poor Venezuelans going hungry, Guaidó is hoping the international humanitarian aid he has enthusiastically welcomed erodes pro-government loyalty in working-class neighborhoods, which have historically been bastions of support for Maduro’s socialist agenda.

The State Department’s special representative to Venezuela Elliot Abrams said “it’s probably correct” that the military “could prevent international aid from reaching Venezuela.”

“That would be a really tragic situation,” he added. “And we are hopeful that that won’t happen.”
