Rust Is Coming To PS4 And Xbox One This Spring

March 8, 2021 by www.gamespot.com Leave a Comment

Rust has been having a breakout moment recently, finding popularity with Twitch streamers who were looking for a different spin on the survival game formula. The game is going to reach an even bigger audience when Rust launches on both Xbox One and PS4 very soon, with a release being announced for Spring 2021 on both platforms. A more specific release date has not yet been shared.

While that launch will span both last-gen PlayStation and Xbox platforms, there’s no word on a native current-gen release. However, backwards compatibility should allow you to play Rust on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Rust is currently undergoing a closed beta for consoles that is expected to last a few weeks. Double Eleven is handling the console versions and previously worked on games like Prison Architect and Minecraft Dungeons. Double Eleven is also publishing the game, unlike the PC version, which is developed and published by Garry’s Mod studio Facepunch.

Rust didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it first launched, seeming to suffer from an identity crisis–for instance, the game originally had zombies before they were removed. We only gave it a 3/10 in our Rust review from 2018.

However, iteration and improvements have turned it into a much stronger game. You can take many different approaches to survival, from killing everyone in your path to working together as a group.

“The title has evolved from its earliest days as a primal-survival game to one that stands out among its competitors–featuring shockingly detailed worlds to explore and build in, filled with a variety of gameplay styles, weapons, crafts, and above all else: combat,” Double Eleven said in its announcement.

Huge streamers like Pokimane and Shroud helped to reignite interest in Rust in early January. It became one of the most-watched games on Twitch and even became one of the most popular games on Steam.

What you need to know

  • A variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is reportedly in the works.
  • This new chip will have an optional 5G modem instead of an integrated one like the Snapdragon 888.
  • An optional 5G modem could make room for cheaper flagship smartphones with 4G LTE.

Qualcomm seems set on having a chipset for every possible price point it can think of. Two flagship chips have already been launched under the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and the repurposed Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 , but rumors indicate that there may be a third flagship SoC in the works, thanks to a tweet from known leaker Roland Quandt.

According to Quandt, this new model is a “lower-end derivative of the Snapdragon 888” that lacks an integrated 5G modem, meaning that OEMs have the option to launch 4G LTE versions of flagship smartphones.

Qualcomm has a lower end derivate of the Snapdragon 888 (SM8350) in the works. SM8325 is the model number and there seems to be NO integrated 5G modem on this one. #CheapFlagshipPhones

The new chipset will likely sit between the Snapdragon 888 and 870 since the latter is more or less an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which powered last year’s best Android phones . This could mean a much wider variety of flagship smartphones could be on the way this year, from premium high-end to more affordable models. This will also enable flagship smartphones to launch at lower prices in countries that may not have a strong 5G presence, so buyers won’t have to pay a premium for a feature they can’t use.

The news also comes on the heels of the rumored Snapdragon 775 SoC which was reportedly spotted recently. This chipset would be the successor to last year’s popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 , a chip that powered many of the best cheap Android phones and some flagship models like the Google Pixel 5 . The addition of this chip would essentially give manufacturers four different flagship SoCs to choose from.

Watch Dogs: Legion’s Online Mode Has Been Delayed On PC

March 8, 2021 by www.gamespot.com Leave a Comment

Watch Dogs: Legion PC players will have to be a little bit more patient before they explore London’s boroughs with friends, as the game’s online mode has been indefinitely delayed. Ubisoft revealed that certain GPUs were causing several game-crashing bugs, resulting in the delay.

“We’ve identified an issue in the PC version that can cause the game to crash for players with certain GPUs,” Ubisoft posted on Twitter . “The team is working on fixing the issue as quickly as possible, and in the meantime, we’ve made the decision to wait to launch the PC version until this is fixed. We will communicate the launch date as soon as possible.”

Ubisoft didn’t reveal which GPU was causing problems for the online mode or an exact timeframe for when the fix will be applied, but the multiplayer will still arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 on March 9.

This isn’t the first time that the multiplayer mode has been delayed. It was originally scheduled to arrive in December but was postponed so that Ubisoft could fix other lingering issues in the game’s single-player.

When it does arrive this week and eventually on PC, Watch Dogs: Legion’s multiplayer will be a separate offering entirely. You’ll need to rebuild your DeadSec faction from the ground up, but the grind will be made easier and there’ll be plenty of co-op missions, a Tactical Op mode, and PvP starring the game’s handy robotic hackers called Spiderbot Arena.

Dark Souls-style invasions are also coming to Watch Dogs Legion, which will let you sneak around as an NPC and steal data from other players.
