Explosive scenes teased in Game of Thrones s7 e2 trailer

Game of Thrones might have finished last year on a controversial note but some fans want to know about the family trees between the great houses. Some of these Westeros families are interconnected with the big connection between the Starks and the Targaryens thanks to Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Here’s a look at the family trees and lineage of the houses.

Trending

Warning – spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7, episode 7 ahead.

The season seven finale revealed what many fans have long-assumed – Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding) and Lyanna Stark (Aisling Franciosi).

Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) confirmed the R+L=J theory to Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), who then clarified Rhaegar and Lyanna were married in a secret ceremony, making Jon the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.

As Bran warged back to the Tower of Joy, where Jon was born, fans learned that the King in the North’s real name is Aegon Targaryen.

The reveal had an uncomfortable edge, as it came at the same time as an oblivious Jon went to bed with Daenerys – his paternal aunt.

Neither Jon or Daenerys knew at the time they were related. Season eight, which aired back in 2019, saw Jon reveal the truth to his aunt after finding out from Sam the familial link.

But how exactly are the two houses related? Here is a look at the family trees for House Stark, House Targaryen and more.

House Stark

The late Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark (Sean Bean) and his wife Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) had five children: Robb (Richard Madden), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Arya (Maisie Williams), Bran and Rickon (Art Parkinson).

Ned also claimed Jon Snow as his illegitimate child, but as we now know, Jon is in fact the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

Season seven saw Jon proclaimed King in the North with Sansa at his side but he eventually bent the knee to Daenerys for her help.

He also told Danerys about their family ties which didn’t seem to faze her. However, Jon ended things with her after finding out they were committing incest.

The epic Battle of Winterfell saw the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) finally defeated and the Other stopped once and for all.

Targaryen family tree

Game of Thrones: Targaryen family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Targaryen

The former ruling family of Westeros – until the Mad King Aerys II (David Rintoul) was killed by his own kingsguard Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

Daenerys is thought to be the only surviving member of the Targaryen clan and has returned to Westeros take her rightful place on the Iron Throne.

Although she took power, her line ended after Jon killed her in season eight not long after she committed an atrocity and burnt King’s Landing in a moment of madness.

Lannister family tree

Game of Thrones: Lannister family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Lannister

The Lannisters were surrounded by enemies on all sides, and after the deaths of King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), King Tommen (Dean Charles-Chapman) and Princess Myrcella (Nell Tiger-Free), were left without an heir.

Cersei and her brother-lover Jaime had been holed up in King’s Landing, while their outcast brother Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) had teamed up with Daenerys to take them down.

Sadly, season eight saw the Lannisters nearly extinguished after Cersei and Jaime died together in the ruins of the Red Keep, which caved in on them.

Tyrion is the last remaining Lannister now left and it’s unclear whether he will carry on the line of his family.

Greyjoy family tree

Game of Thrones: Greyjoy family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Greyjoy

Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) murdered his brother Balon (Patrick Malahide) and took his niece Yara (Gemma Whelan) captive.

Theon (Alfie Allen) vowed to rescue his sister, who otherwise faced certain death at the hands of her uncle.

Both siblings are still alive and returned to Pyke in season eight to rule over the Iron Islands.

Baratheon family tree

Game of Thrones: Baratheon family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Baratheon

King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) had three children with his wife Cersei, but all three were actually fathered by her brother Jaime.

He had many illegitimate children, but all bar one were killed on King Joffrey’s orders.

Gendry (Joe Dempsie) is the only remaining Baratheon heir and it’s unclear what happened to him at the end of Game of Thrones.

He had a liaison with Arya Stark but the pair later went their separate ways.

Tyrell family tree

Game of Thrones: Tyrell family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Tyrell

House Tyrell became extinct when Jaime Lannister killed Olenna Redwyne (Diana Rigg) – but not before she admitted to poisoning his son, Joffrey.

Margaery (Natalie Dormer), Loras (Finn Jones) and Mace Tyrell were all killed when Queen Cersei blew up the Sept of Baelor.

Highgarden and its family appear to be very much dead and gone now.

Martell family tree

Game of Thrones: Martell family tree (Image: EXPRESS / HBO)

House Martell

Oberyn Martell’s (Pedro Pascal) death at the hands of The Mountain was one of the most gruesome scenes in Game of Thrones’ history.

It left his wife Ellaria (Indira Varma) and his daughters, the Sand Snakes, as the only remaining members of the family.

Obara and Nymeria were murdered by Euron Greyjoy, who also captured Ellaria and Tyene and took them to King’s Landing.

There, Cersei poisoned Tyene and left Ellaria locked in a dungeon to witness her daughter die.

Edmure (Tobias Menzies) and his wife Roslin (née Frey) are the only heirs of the late Lord Hoster, however, Edmure was held prisoner at The Twins since the Red Wedding.

Unfortunately for him, his niece Arya seemed unaware of his plight when she travelled to The Twins to kill Walder and the Freys.

Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) married Lysa Tully after the death of her first husband Jon Arryn.

This gave him influence over Lysa’s son Robin, the Lord of the Vale of Arryn.

In season six, Robin sent his army, The Knights of the Vale, to defend his cousin Sansa Stark from House Bolton in the Battle of the Bastards.

Petyr then attempted to turn Sansa on her sister Arya, but his manipulation backfired and he was executed.

Robin is now one of the main lords of Westeros since it became the Six Kingdoms.

HBO announced it had shelved all its Game of Thrones spin-off series after a raft were reportedly in the early stages. The highly anticipated Long Night prequel also didn’t go ahead despite a pilot being shot and a large ensemble cast being announced. The only drama going ahead now is House of the Dragon.

Trending

The show is going to be set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will focus predominantly on the Targaryen dynasty when they arrived in Westeros.

The Targaryens were an ancient family from Valyria but fled before the mysterious Doom consumed the area and killed its inhabitants.

Among the houses of Valyria, the Targaryens was a minor one and just one of many families of dragonlords.

However, they were the only one to survive after Daenys Targaryen foresaw the Doom of Valyria is a prophetic dream and fled with her family.

The Targaryens relocated to Dragonstone and 12 years later Daenys the Dreamer’s visions came true when a volcanic eruption destroyed Valyria and all those who lived there.

Who will play Visenya Targaryen in Game of Thrones spin-off series House of the Dragon?

House of the Dragon will be based on the George R.R. Martin’s Targaryen history book Fire and Blood.

The book starts off with Ageon’s Conquest and follows the king and his sister-wives Rhaenys and Visenya.

Therefore, the assumption is House of the Dragon will be following these three Targaryens, who will be the leads.

A purported casting call went out earlier this year, according to Knight Edge Media.

The unsubstantiated report suggested programme-makers were looking for a Caucasian woman in her 20s to take on the role of the Visenya.

The character is the older sister and wife of King Aegon Targaryen and this was said to be a lead role.

In the casting call, it stated: “A voluptuous, stern, serious, and unforgiving woman. Riding the dragon Vhagar.”

HBO declined to comment about the veracity of the casting call when approached by Express.co.uk.

Although the casting call’s authenticity can’t be confirmed, this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating.

Also, bookmakers Betfair shared odds with Express.co.uk on some of the possible actresses who could take on the role of Visenya.

One name is Lily James, who has been given 3/1 from the oddsmakers.

James is no stranger to period pieces having starred in Downton Abbey, Cinderella and War & Peace.

She’s also known for portraying spirited characters such as Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as well as Young Donna in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, so she could be apt to take on Visenya.

Lily-Rose Depp comes in third with 16/1. The starlet is the daughter of Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp and former partner Vanessa Paradis.

Depp has starred in several movies including The King, My Last Lullaby and Savage.

According to IMDB, she will be appearing in the projects Wolf, Voyages and Dreamland.

One more name who could be in the running is American actress Hailee Steinfeld at 25/1.

The Importance of Speaking Up: One Woman’s Journey to Chronic Heart Failure Diagnosis

June 28, 2022 by www.chron.com Leave a Comment

(BPT) – Despite having asthma, Nichole Steward (pictured, right) considered herself a typical 39-year-old living an active life, frequently visiting the beach and participating in roller derby. Though she was surprised when she began experiencing heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and fatigue, Nichole figured that it was nothing serious and might resolve on its own.

As many women do, Nichole tried to explain away her symptoms. The heart palpitations could be due to stress and caffeine, and her constant exhaustion was likely related to her asthma. But when her symptoms persisted, Nichole decided to visit her primary care provider.

Her doctor initially concluded that the symptoms were likely associated with stress and anxiety. However, Nichole, remaining mindful of her family’s history of heart disease, was not ready to accept that answer, and requested additional testing and a referral to a cardiologist.

Prioritizing herself

In June 2018, after the testing she advocated for, Nichole was diagnosed with chronic heart failure , a long-lasting condition that worsens over time. Heart failure affects six million Americans, and its prevalence is on the rise as the population ages.

Chronic heart failure can change the structure and/or function of the heart and places patients at risk for hospitalization. News of her diagnosis sparked fear and shock for Nichole. “I was worried I had received a death sentence,” she says.

Once diagnosed, Nichole received support from her family and health care team, including a new cardiologist who empowered her to proactively manage her condition. Together, they developed a treatment plan that was right for her, including eating a low-salt diet, maintaining regular physical activity, managing her stress, and taking medicines. As part of her treatment regimen, Nichole takes a medicine specifically made for heart failure called ENTRESTO ® (sacubitril/valsartan) , which helps reduce the risk of death and hospitalization in adults with chronic, heart failure, and works better when the heart cannot pump a normal amount of blood to the body. ENTRESTO is the number one heart failure brand prescribed by cardiologists. Like all medicines, ENTRESTO is not for everyone, including those who are or plan to become pregnant. See below for Important Safety Information.

By advocating for herself, working with her cardiologist, and surrounding herself with a strong support system, Nichole has come to terms with her diagnosis.

An all-too-common story

Unfortunately, Nichole’s story is not unique; women with heart failure can face challenges such as delayed diagnosis and treatment. Nichole encourages women to prioritize their health and stand up for themselves if they don’t feel heard. “It is so important for people — all people, but especially women — to pay attention to their body and any symptoms they may be experiencing,” she says. “As women, we often tend to just suck it up and deal with it.”

Women living with heart failure often report a poorer quality of life than men. It is important for women to prioritize their health and well-being, despite the many other competing priorities in their day-to-day lives.

Today, Nichole continues to live a happy life that she is proud of, and enjoys spending time with loved ones and working at her own small business — a spiritual and metaphysical boutique — and her full-time job. Hospitalizations are common for people with heart failure, so she keeps her treatment plan top of mind. While everyone’s experience is different, since starting ENTRESTO, Nichole has continued to stay out of the hospital for heart failure.

Nichole encourages those currently living with heart failure to work with their health care provider to determine a treatment plan that is right for them.

To learn more about heart failure and ENTRESTO, visit ENTRESTO.com .

What is ENTRESTO?

ENTRESTO is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with long-lasting (chronic) heart failure to help reduce the risk of death and hospitalization. ENTRESTO works better when the heart cannot pump a normal amount of blood to the body.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

What is the most important information I should know about ENTRESTO?

ENTRESTO can harm or cause death to your unborn baby. Talk to your doctor about other ways to treat heart failure if you plan to become pregnant. If you get pregnant during treatment with ENTRESTO, tell your doctor right away.

Do not take ENTRESTO if you:

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients in ENTRESTO
  • have had an allergic reaction including swelling of your face, lips, tongue, throat (angioedema) or trouble breathing while taking a type of medicine called an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor or angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)
  • take an ACE inhibitor medicine. Do not take ENTRESTO for at least 36 hours before or after you take an ACE inhibitor medicine. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking ENTRESTO if you are not sure if you take an ACE inhibitor medicine
  • have diabetes and take a medicine that contains aliskiren

Before taking ENTRESTO tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

  • have a history of hereditary angioedema
  • have kidney or liver problems
  • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. You should either take ENTRESTO or breastfeed. You should not do both

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you take potassium supplements or a salt substitute; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); lithium; or other medicines for high blood pressure or heart problems such as an ACE inhibitor, ARB, or aliskiren.

What are the possible side effects of ENTRESTO? ENTRESTO may cause serious side effects including:

  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue and throat (angioedema) that may cause trouble breathing and death. Get emergency medical help right away if you have symptoms of angioedema or trouble breathing. Do not take ENTRESTO again if you have had angioedema while taking ENTRESTO
  • People who are Black or who have had angioedema and take ENTRESTO may have a higher risk of having angioedema
  • low blood pressure (hypotension), which may become more common if you take water pills. Call your doctor if you become dizzy or lightheaded, or if you develop extreme fatigue
  • kidney problems
  • increased amount of potassium in your blood (hyperkalemia)

The most common side effects were low blood pressure, high potassium, cough, dizziness, and kidney problems.

You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch , or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
