San Francisco police said they are investigating an “officer involved shooting” that occurred Thursday night.
San Francisco police spokesperson Robert Rueca said that “An officer involved shooting did occur,” but did not immediately provide additional information.
Authorities were investigating the police shooting at Mariposa and Owens streets, where the roadway was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic for the ongoing investigation, Rueca said.
Police did not say whether they shot someone. Rueca said that a “suspect” was not at-large, but did not provide additional information about the circumstances of the shooting.
Officials warned the public to avoid the area due to police activity, and 511 traffic officials said an incident occurred on the Mariposa Street off-ramp of northbound Interstate 280.
Rueca said police officials would release a statement about the police shooting when information was available.
