June 28, 2022 – 15:32 BST Countess Sophie Wessex looked incredible on a royal visit to Scotland with her husband Prince Edward, wearing a pleated white skirt and nude blazer.

On Tuesday, Prince Edward and his wife the Countess of Wessex arrived in Moray, Scotland, for a day of engagements serving to recognise community organisations, volunteers and young people across the region.

Looking as stunning as ever, Sophie wore a delightful outfit consisting of an incredible white pleated skirt. We love this style; it’s a timeless cut that would suit every woman’s shape. Full marks! She teamed it with a floral top and a dazzling beige blazer, and added a pair of Mary Jane shoes by Penelope Chilvers. She wore her hair in a chic chignon and her makeup looked as natural and flawless as ever.

They also presented over 120 pupils with their special Moray Badge ‘Platinum Jubilee’ and heard about their experiences completing the Badge. The Moray Badge – which is unique to Moray and Banffshire – has been reintroduced for 2022 as a special celebration to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Moray Badge was originally established by Kurt Hahn at Gordonstoun in 1936 and is widely recognised as being a predecessor of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, with The Duke himself having been awarded the Badge in 1937.

On Monday, Sophie looked beautiful alongside the Queen, wearing a fabulous bold green, fitted shirt dress with a slightly flared skirt. The blonde royal added contrasting terracotta accessories, which consisted of a brown clutch bag and sleek high heel shoes. We particularly loved her boater hat; the straw style featured a light green ribbon that gave it a bold edge.

Love Island stars and their stunning lookalike siblings – Anna Vakili to Sophie Piper

June 28, 2022 by www.dailystar.co.uk Leave a Comment

ITV’s Love Island has become well known for finding some of the most genetically blessed people from across the country and making them “crack on” in a gorgeous villa for a number of weeks.

So viewers shouldn’t be entirely surprised to discover that the contestant’s siblings would be just as stunning as they are.

From Anna Vakili’s beautiful lookalike sister Mandi to Brett Staniland’s twin brother Scott, these sexy siblings would fit in just fine if they ever plucked up the courage to enter the villa of love.

With the current series finally underway, Daily Star has taken a look at the previous contestant’s stunning siblings and the ones who caused shockwaves amongst fans.

Anna Vakili

Love Island contestant Anna Vakili made heads roll when she entered the Love Island villa in 2019.

Showcasing her gorgeous curves and long brunette locks in every episode, the pharmacist from London certainly caused a stir during her time on the show.

But fans were left gobsmacked when they discovered she had a younger sister who looks just like her.

Anna’s sister Mandi is a 30 year old professional make-up artist and social media influencer living in London.

While Anna was in the villa, Mandi ran her social media page and helped her to rock up more than 1million followers on Instagram.

Teddy Soares

Love Island finalist Teddy Soares left fans stunned when they discovered a photo of his lookalike sibling online.

Teddy’s younger brother Sidney is a registered NLP practitioner with his own consulting business.

Not only this but he also has a degree in biomedical science.

From the looks of Sidney’s Instagram profile, he is someone who enjoys travelling and was recently seen living his best life in Dubai.

However, Sidney is not single and ready to mingle as he is currently dating a hair and makeup artist.

Brett Staniland

One of the last bombshells to enter Love Island in 2021 was model Brett Staniland.

But fans had to stop and do a double-take when they came to realise that Brett has a twin brother called Scott.

Identical twins Brett and Scott are both models and have worked with large high fashion brands.

Talking to ITV, Bret confirmed that he and his brother are mirror twins and said: “There are some blemishes on our skin which are perfectly opposite.

“I’m older by two minutes. There’s some very peculiar questions I get asked, like if I hit you will he feel it?”

Despite their identical looks, both brothers have confirmed that they would never date the same kind of person romantically.

Tommy Fury

Although this contestant doesn’t look exactly look like his older brother, the connection was still just as stunning.

When Tommy Fury went on Love Island in 2019, and he was quick to share that he was the younger brother of professional boxer Tyson Fury.

Finalist Tommy from Manchester, who took the second place spot in the show alongside his current partner Molly-Mae Hague is also a professional boxer, and has been trained by Ricky Hatton.

However at the time, Tommy did not want to be labelled as Tyson’s younger brother.

Talking openly, he said: “I’m my own man and I’ve said it throughout my whole boxing career. I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve.”

Since his time on the show, Tommy has accumulated 4.1million followers on Instagram and has continued to pursue is career in boxing.

Curtis Pritchard

Just like islander Tommy, dancer Curtis Pritchard also had a very well known sibling when he went on Love Island in 2019.

Curtis and former Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard are brothers and have appeared on screen together numerous times since Curtis’ Love Island stint.

Both brothers started dancing at a young age learning their skills from their parents Adrian and Debi’s dance school, Pritchard’s Dance and Fitness Academy.

Before Love Island, Curtis did appear Dancing With The Stars in Ireland in 2017.

Talking about his dance background, he said: “I got into dancing through my parents.

“But what got me seriously in to it was when dad would take me to major competitions he judged. Seeing professionals dance was my biggest inspiration.”

Sophie Piper

Winter Love Island star Sophie Piper made quite an impression when she came on the show in 2020.

But fans and her fellow islanders couldn’t help notice that she resembled well established TV presenter Rochelle Humes- who happens to be her sister.

Sophie and Rochelle’s sibling story was an extraordinary one, as they also had a long-lost sister that they never knew anything about.

What made the story even more astonishing was the the fact that Rochelle’s This Morning co-star Kem Cetinay – who won Love Island 2017 was the one to reunite her with her long-lost sister.

Faye Winter

Fiery Faye Winter hit headlines when her sister Jo appeared on Love Island: Aftersun in 2021.

Fans couldn’t help compare the two ladies’ gorgeous looks while commenting on how much they look alike.

Speaking to presenter Laura Whitmore on the show, Jo said: “It’s crazy the only way that I can see my little sister is turning on the TV at 9pm, which is so bizarre.

“I do speak to her all the time and see her all the time. I miss her terribly but I’m so glad to see her enjoying herself. It’s lovely.”

Mike Boateng

Former police man Mike entered the winter version of Love Island in 2020 and fans were instantly attracted to his captivating looks.

However, when Love Island viewers dug a bit deeper they discovered he also has hunky twin brothers Samuel and Andrew.

Older brother Samuel was already someone that appeared on television previously before, starring in BBC’s The Apprentice in 2016.

However, when Mike left the villa with his girlfriend Priscilla just days before the highly-anticipated final Andrew slammed the show for what he saw as unfair editing of his brother.

He complained: “They really tried it with how they edited these two, but the world will see how amazing they are.”

Amber Davies

Love Island winner Amber Davies set pulses racing when she appeared on the show in 2017.

Taking first place with her partner Kem Cetinay, Amber was known to be a much-loved favourite contestant amongst fans.

Despite her Love Island fame, Amber had dreams of following in her look-a-like sister’s footsteps and become a theatre actress.

Amber’s sister Jade is already an established actress and has starred in theatre plays Phantom Of The Opera, Les Miserables and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Archery World Cup: Abhishek-Jyothi bag historic gold for India

June 25, 2022 by www.rediff.com Leave a Comment

Abhishek Verma

India won its maiden World Cup gold in compound mixed team archery event after the duo of Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam outclassed their experienced French opponents at the Stage 3 edition in Paris on Saturday.

Riding on a spectacular start, the Indians withered late resistance from the French pair of Jean Boulch and 48-year-old Olympic medallist Sophie Dodemont to seal the contest 152-149, a first-ever World Cup gold for India in the compound mixed team event .

The gold also opened the account of Indian archers, who have assured a second medal in the women’s recurve team event where the trio of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Simranjeet Kaur will fight for the yellow metal on Sunday.

Making a comeback after more than seven months, world no. 3 Jyothi, who was sidelined in the Asian Games trial, is also in the hunt for another medal as she takes on French veteran Sophie in the individual semifinal later in the day.

A Beijing Olympics bronze medalist, Sophie switched to compound discipline after failing to make the 2012 London Olympics squad.

The third-seeded Indians got off to a flier, drilling in four 10s that included two Xs to race to a three-point lead and put early pressure on the French pair.

The Indians managed just one 10 in the second end as the French duo reduced the deficit to one-point.

The third was a tie, while in the deciding fourth end, Abhishek and Jyothi held their nerves to edge out their opponents by two points to annexe the title.

The most successful Indian compound pair of Abhishek and Jyothi have a handful of World Cup bronze medals and their best has been a World Cup Final silver at Yankton last year.

Hollywood Rewind | Howl’s Moving Castle: The delightful film where Christian Bale’s Batman found his ‘voice’

January 24, 2022 by indianexpress.com Leave a Comment

If you have happened to watch the animated film Howl’s Moving Castle before or after Christian Bale ‘s rendition of Batman in Christopher Nolan movies, you would find a strong and strange connection between the two features. A year before the world was introduced to the iconic gruff voice of Bale’s Batman in Batman Begins (2005), the Academy Award-winning actor had tested the grounds by using the tone in the widely acclaimed Japanese fantasy film, based loosely on British author Diane Wynne Jones novel of the same name.

Directed by the prolific animated filmmaker and storyteller Hayao Miyazaki, who also happens to be the co-founder of the famed Studio Ghibli, Howl’s Moving Castle is an exquisitely drawn movie that despite being slightly slow-paced, delivers the goods. Christian Bale voiced the main character Howl in it, with Emily Mortimer plays his love interest, Sophie. The plain-clothed but honest and smart Sophie is one day turned into a 90-year-old by a witch. Seeking to take shelter in an unknown place, Sophie is taken to Howl’s moving castle by a scarecrow. The plot is as crazily delightful as it sounds. Every literal and metaphorical door opens into a new world full of possibilities. Despite its obvious fairytale structure, the film doesn’t ignore real-world issues, most importantly that of the devastating effects of war. With great care, Miyazaki points out the fruitlessness of fighting a battle via his protagonist Howl.

Howl is a somewhat vain, flamboyant but ultimately compassionate wizard who is drawn to the great war in effort to mitigate the crisis, all the while handling some personal troubles of his own. His heart is missing, he fears losing his good looks and there are ‘girl troubles’ too. Howl’s magic self is beautifully contrasted with his frailties as a sentient being. And all of these complexities are brought on screen by the talented Bale, who perfectly captures the constant dilemma of being a human. His voice sounds tired and low as Howl comes home in tatters after a long day, or that tinkle in his laugh after delivering a confident line or two in order to impress the lady — Bale’s voice changes as Howl goes through the motions of being himself. According to IMDb trivia, Chrsitian Bale was so blown away by Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away (2001), that he resolved to do any role in the new movie. However, he had not expected to land the leading part.

Howl’s Moving Castle is also a gentle critique of how ageing is perceived in the society, as we see our heroine Sophie become a cane-carrying 90-year-old. At first aghast at her appearance, we see Sophie reconcile herself to looking aged, instead focusing on how she doesn’t have to bother about anything anymore. Sophie found a freedom in being old that she never did as a young woman full of insecurities. As her elderly version, Sophie was able to let go of that extra baggage of vanity and appearances, finally coming into her own as the leading lady of her life. Despite having no magical prowess of her own (unlike the novel’s Sophie), Miyazaki lends her the superpower of empathy and affection, and even a certain determinedness that her younger self lacked. Made up of such small and big themes, Howl’s Moving Castle is a warm, funny watch that remains as timeless and appealing as it did when it first came out.
