Why you should back Spain

The Spaniards were clinging to a 1-0 lead against Norway until Joselu came off the bench and took over the match. The 33-year-old forward doubled Spain’s advantage in the 84th minute and scored again a minute later to provide the final margin. Joselu has scored 12 goals in 23 contests for Espanyol of La Liga this season, his first with the club after spending the previous three with Alaves.

Spain have another offensive threat in striker Alvaro Morata, who led the team with three goals in the 2022 World Cup. The 30-year-old has netted 30 goals in 62 career matches for the national team, including eight in his last 13 outings. Morata has recorded a team-leading 10 goals in 26 games for La Liga’s Atletico Madrid this campaign.

Why you should back Scotland

Scott McTominay provided heroics similar to Joselu’s for the Scottish in their victory over Cyprus. The 26-year-old midfielder entered the match as a substitute in the second half and turned a slim lead into a comfortable one with a pair of late goals. McTominay recorded just one goal in his previous 37 contests with the national team.

Midfielder John McGinn also scored against Cyprus, giving him a goal in four of his last six outings with Scotland. The 28-year-old has registered 16 goals and six assists over his past 30 games for the national team after failing to notch any in his first 23 matches. Scotland also hopes to receive production from striker Lyndon Dykes, who owns a share of the team lead with six goals for Queens Park Rangers of the EFL Championship this season.

How to make Spain vs. Scotland picks

Eimer has broken down the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying match from every angle. He is leaning Over on the goal total and has locked four other best bets, three of which pay plus-money. You can only see his UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying picks and analysis at SportsLine .

Real Madrid could have a major input on who Tottenham appoint as their next manager, according to reports. Los Blancos may soon be searching for a new boss of their own and two candidates for the Spurs job may be of interest.

Tottenham and Antonio Conte parted ways on Sunday through a mutual agreement . The Italian’s rant following the 3-3 draw at Southampton a week earlier proved to be the final straw for chairman Daniel Levy.

Assistant Cristian Stellini has been placed in temporary charge, with Ryan Mason alongside him. Spurs have been linked with a host of managers in the last week.

Mauricio Pochettino could make a return to the club after being out of the game since last summer. Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann was only sacked by Bayern Munich last week but has already been linked with the Spurs job.

However, Real could have a say on the pursuit of both managers. Ancelotti’s future at the Bernabeu is in serious doubt.

Real find themselves 12 points adrift of rivals Barcelona at the top of La Liga following the El Clasico loss last time out. Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmour claims both Pochettino and Nagelsmann could be targeted by Real if Ancelotti leaves the club.

Both managers have been linked with the Real job before. Spurs may not have the lure to convince their preferred target to join them ahead of the Spanish giants.

Levy, therefore, may have to wait to see Real’s next move before deciding on a next boss. Levy is hoping Stellini can get a tune out of the Spurs players for the final 10 matches of the season.

Ancelotti is already linked with the Brazil national team vacancy. CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed interest in the former Chelsea and Everton boss.

He told Reuters : “Ancelotti is unanimously respected among players. Not only Ronaldo Nazario or Vinicius Jr but all those that have played for him.

“I really admire him for his honesty in the way he works and how constant his work is. He needs no introductions. He is really a top coach who has several achievements and we hope he can have even more.”

Graham Potter will bring ‘success’ to Chelsea but Real Madrid are Champions League favourites, says Sergio Aguero

March 27, 2023 by metro.co.uk Leave a Comment

Sergio Aguero believes Graham Potter will bring ‘success’ to Chelsea but doubts they will overcome Real Madrid to progress in the Champions League .

Following a dismal start to Potter’s reign at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are starting to find their feet under the former Brighton boss.

The Blues had won three games in a row before the 2-2 draw with Everton before the international break and edged out Borussia Dortmund in a tense Champions League last-16 clash .

Chelsea’s reward for knocking out Dortmund is a daunting quarter-final tie with defending champions and 14-time winners Real Madrid.

Real Madrid look set to miss out on the La Liga title after slipping 12 points behind El Clasico rivals Barcelona but continue to impress in Europe, thumping Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate in the previous round .

Aguero told Stake : ‘Graham Potter hasn’t managed Chelsea for that much time, has he? And he’s been there during a time with many players coming and going, lots of high-profile injuries.

‘Going straight into major competitions isn’t what one would advise. He needs more time to get great results. That’s what we saw during his time at Brighton, and he’ll surely find a way to repeat that success at Chelsea.

‘I can’t just ignore the past and present of Real Madrid – they are the likely winners of this tie.

‘But it isn’t over until we see how the games play out. Sometimes, the most minor thing can make a world of difference.

‘Granted, Madrid is tried and true in these kinds of matches. Their history – and recent showings – prove as much. They’ll be the toughest of oppositions.

‘That said, Chelsea has bolstered their squad with fantastic players. They have some level of adaptation to do, that may trip them up. But I wouldn’t expect that to make it an easy match for Real Madrid. Still, Madrid’s got the edge here.’

Real Madrid convinced Erling Haaland wants to join from Man City in 2024 and will SMASH world record with £200m transfer

March 24, 2023 by www.thesun.co.uk Leave a Comment

REAL MADRID are certain Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland will join them in 2024 on a world record deal, reports suggest.

Haaland has set the Premier League alight on his debut season with City as he has scored a staggering 42 goals and bagged five assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

The star striker joined the reigning Prem champions last summer following a £51million deal with Borussia Dortmund , despite interest from some of Europe’s biggest hitters like Real.

According to AS , however, Los Blancos are planning to reignite their bid for the Norway international and are confident they will have their man by next year.

In fact, the Madrid giants are planning a world record offer in the range of £200m, which will eclipse Neymar’s £198m move to Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017.

The reigning European champions are confident the 22-year-old has a release clause, which activates every year from 2024 until his contract ends in 2027 despite City denying it.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side plans to stay in touch with the Norwegian’s camp until next year in order to be in pole position when the time comes to swoop in.

Real also believe Haaland can still leave the Etihad even if manager Pep Guardiola, who played an integral part in his signing, stays in Manchester.

The Spanish champions have major plans for the coming years as they will move for the ex-Red Bull Salzburg star even if they get PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Real are planning to form a Galacticos-type trio to spearhead their attack consisted of Haaland, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

By the time they move for the two star strikers it is highly likely top earners like Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Eden Hazard will be gone.

That means they will free up at least €50m (£44m) per year in wages and will be able to meet Haaland and Mbappe’s financial demands.

The two centre-forwards are seen as leaders that will take Real to the new era.

Here We Go: Why Bayern Munich sacked Naglesmann for Tuchel, Modric’s Real Madrid future and more

March 27, 2023 by www.cbssports.com Leave a Comment

Bayern’s revolution has begun in the most amazing way possible. Nobody expected the move of Hasan Salihamdzic and Oliver Kahn — Julian Nagelsmann fired, Thomas Tuchel appointed as new coach. But why?

Julian Nagelsmann himself didn’t expect to be sacked on Thursday night. He was on holiday with his family, enjoying some free days and recharging for the upcoming crucial matches with Bayern. Nagelsmann got the information of the club’s intention to sack him…on social media. It was shocking news received before the club informed him and confirmed the decision.

Bayern decided to change managers precisely because of the difficulties with Nagelsmann — the feeling that some players preferred some changes but also the intention not to be beaten by other clubs on the real top target in Tuchel.

Yes, because Tuchel had been top of the list for Bayern for some time and the club had the feeling that Tottenham or Real Madrid could try for the former Chelsea coach in the coming weeks. So Bayern decided to act fast and there is already a full agreement with Thomas Tuchel on a contract valid until June 2025. There was no doubt from Tuchel as he wanted to return to coaching as soon as possible after his separation with Chelsea last September.

Sabitzer wants to stay at Manchester United

The movements also continue around Europe during the international break. Marcel Sabitzer would like to stay at Manchester United next season but the loan deal does not include a buy option, so the negotiations between Man United and FC Bayern will be in June with Thomas Tuchel as one of the new factors. Alex Telles will return to Man United from his Sevilla loan because there is no intention of negotiating a permanent deal.

Luka Modric set to stay at Real Madrid as expected

Luka Modric’s plans are clear — the Croatian star only wants to stay at Real Madrid with a one-year deal expected. He confirmed this in public but also already told the club in the first conversations. The decision is up to Florentino Perez. It must be remembered that Toni Kroos has not yet decided whether to retire or continue at Real for another year, while the club continue to insist on signing Jude Bellingham in a race that remains open with Manchester City and Liverpool .

Rice ready to leave West Ham with Arsenal and Chelsea interested

Declan Rice is another name to watch in the summer. Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs that have Rice on their list and he is ready to leave West Ham after so many years. But keep an eye also on Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo , two other top talents who will certainly be protagonists of the midfielder dominos in the summer.
