Gentile said in 2021: “A defender has to be strong. That’s something very different to being dirty and going in to do harm. A defender is a defender, not a dancer.”

Scott Brown

Scott Brown is synonymous with the Celtic success of the past two decades, leading his side to glory through his leadership as well as physical and mental strength.

Brown loved nothing more than winding up opposition players and fans during his time at Parkhead, notably getting Alfredo Morelos sent off in a 2019 Old Firm derby.

If that fixture needed to sum up his style in ore detail, he casques a mass brawl after scuffling with Ryan Kent, with Celtic of course going on to win.

Ronaldo was in fine form for his country at the Stade de Luxembourg and opened the scoring in the ninth minute as he bundled the ball in from close range. And to celebrate his strike, the blockbuster star ran to the corner of the pitch, where he combined his trademark Siu and Nap celebrations.

Ronaldo’s Siu celebration originated during his time playing for Real Madrid, with the ace shouting the word down the microphone after beating Lionel Messi to the Ballon d’Or in 2014. And he later explained: “The scream? The players know I always do that shout when I score a goal or when we win. It’s our shout, from Real Madrid.”

Ronaldo’s Nap celebration, meanwhile, was spotted for the first time last autumn after the 38-year-old had scored against Everton for the Red Devils.

According to the United website , the celebration was “a self-deprecating in-joke with his fellow team-mates” and “a nod to the position in which he sleeps when travelling with the squad.” Ronaldo is known for his strict off-the-pitch regime to ensure he is in the best shape possible. And he is reported to nap several times a time.

Joao Felix and Bernardo Silva added their names to the scoresheet inside the opening 20 minutes against Luxembourg, before Ronaldo kept his composure to finish well after being teed-up by ex-United team-mate Bruno Fernandes just after the half hour mark. And the Euro 2016 winners wrapped up the victory in the second half as Otavio and Rafael Leao struck late on.
