1000lb Sisters season four has come to an end this week, with the season finale Apple of My Eye concluding with Tammy Slaton’s marriage to Caleb Willingham. Outside of the series, the TLC star has continued to show off her progress, but nearly showed her fans more than they expected in her latest update on TikTok .

Tammy nearly shared some X-rated content in her latest social media post showing off her weight loss.

Thanks to the help of a new diet and bariatric surgery, the reality star is looking much slimmer these days.

Starting off the show weighing over 700lbs, she managed to shed a whopping 200lbs to qualify for the operation.

She has since lost even more weight after the procedure, and fans have been stunned by the progress shown in her recent snaps.

On Wednesday, Tammy posted a video of herself alongside another post bringing awareness to a grandma in Washington, whose grandson was requesting birthday cards for her.

The TV star stayed quiet but smiled at the camera throughout the new video.

She donned a zip-up camo jacket which she kept open at the chest.

Midway through the video, Tammy changed the angle and exposed a large portion of her chest through the open jacket.

Thankfully, the video didn’t become NSFW, but her followers may not have been expecting such a close look at her body’s progress.

The show has amassed millions of fans in the States, and Tammy herself has well over 600k followers on TikTok .

1000lb Sisters’ most recent episode saw the star tying the knot with her partner Caleb, though her sister Amy and other members of the family were concerned about their quick engagement.

“There was so much love in the room,” Tammy told PEOPLE at the time.

However, a source close to the Slatons has claimed the marriage is already having difficulties as they were forced to go long-distance.

“She is frustrated Caleb has not made an effort to move to a facility in Kentucky from Ohio,” they told the US Sun.

“They have been arguing because she feels he is not handling the transfer with urgency.”

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jennifer Fessler looked totally different while appearing in a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen . She confessed to having a “glow up” after once revealing her ideal appearance is based on another reality TV star.

Jennifer looked unrecognisable as she debuted her “facelift” with the Bravo gossip presenter.

She spoke candidly about her cosmetic surgery after claiming she has the “best” plastic surgeon.

The 52-year-old said she had work done on her face and hinted at using medication to alter her appearance.

Andy had asked the Real Housewives star about her ever-changing appearance after appearing different recently.

“I got a glow-up!” Jennifer told Andy following questions about her face.

“What am I on? Well, I did have a facelift. I did. Dr Sam Rizk baby, he’s the best. And a nose job!”

She added: “Yeah, I don’t play, I don’t play. And I did lose a lot of weight.

“I took peptides and I don’t know if you’ve heard of medications associated with that that help people lose weight.”

It comes after the mother-of-two detailed all of her enhancements in an interview with New Beauty.

She revealed picking Dr Sam because “his results look so natural”.

“I went in thinking that I needed a blepharoplasty in addition to a facelift, and he said no,” she told the outlet.

“He did point out that my nose was droopy, which has bothered me for quite some time.”

Certain nutrients are essential to ensure the body functions properly. Deficiencies can have lasting effects, even leading to illnesses. And in some cases they can result in hair loss , one expert said.

Doctor Manish Mittal, surgical director of Mittal Hair Clinic , spoke with Express.co.uk about how an omega-3 deficiency can impact hair.

Omega-3 fatty acids are a family of polyunsaturated fats that can be found in vegetable oils, nuts and seeds as well as seafood and fish.

Dr Mittal explained: “When we talk about omega-3, we are referring to three types of fatty acid called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).

“ Omega-3 is essential for keeping us healthy , and maintaining normal human growth and development.

“It cannot be overstated how important it is to different aspects of our health, and one of the more surprising ways is how it affects our hair and scalp.

“One of the key values of omega-3 is its anti-inflammatory properties , which prevent hair follicles from becoming irritated and thus stop hair from falling out.

“It is natural for hair to fall out, but a deficiency in some nutrients will accelerate this process and could lead to thinning or even baldness.

“A lack of omega-3 has repeatedly been linked to hair becoming dry and brittle, which can then result in dandruff and an itchy scalp.

What does the research say?

“Research suggests that people taking a supplement containing omega-3 see an increase in hair density and reduced hair loss,” Dr Mittal said.

“Some experiments even found that supplements have helped people suffering from androgenetic alopecia, which is a form of hair loss.”

One study, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2015, found that consuming omega-3 and 6 supplements could tackle hair loss.

Popular diet could slash the risk of early death in women by 23%

As part of the trial 120 healthy women were studied over a six-month period.

It said: “A six-month supplementation with omega-3 and 6 and antioxidants acts efficiently against hair loss in improving hair density and reducing the telogen percentage and the proportion of miniaturised anagen hair.”

How to boost omega-3 intake

Dr Mittal said: “It is not difficult to get omega-3 into your diet, so long as you know where to find it.

“The biggest source comes from fatty fish such as salmon, halibut, sardines, trout, cod, tuna and herring.

“If you don’t enjoy eating fish, you can also take a fish oil supplement .

“Shellfish and eggs are also good sources of omega-3.

“If you’re vegetarian or vegan, you may also find it in nuts, flaxseed and rapeseed oil.”

Other symptoms of an omega-3 deficiency include:

Skin irritation and dryness
Depression
Dry eyes
Joint pain and stiffness.

A Canberra mother’s emotive push for change has led to the opening of a dedicated early pregnancy loss unit at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children.

The early pregnancy loss service came about after harrowing evidence at an inquiry into Canberra’s public maternity services

Karen Schlage lost her son Charlie at 16 weeks’ gestation in 2018, and a year later, spoke out about the undignified care she said she received in Canberra’s public health system.

Mrs Schlage said she was given no choice but to deliver her son in the hospital’s busy emergency department and later told an inquiry into Canberra’s maternity services that staff referred to Charlie as “the products of conception.”

“Babies have been referred to as medical waste and have been handed back to women in specimen jars,” she told the visibly moved committee members.

Mrs Schlage delivered her powerful evidence to the inquiry in 2019, despite being pregnant at the time with her second baby, Sophia, who she knew had also died.

Her story led to the inquiry recommending the hospital dedicate a space to Canberrans who experience miscarriage and stillbirth — and that unit is being launched today.

“It’s a day of really mixed emotions,” Mrs Schlage said.

“I’m quietly proud of what we’ve been able to achieve but there’s also that really enduring sense of loss around our babies.”

She said while it was a place no mother wanted to end up, it was vital that grief and loss could be experienced in an appropriate setting.

The three-bed inpatient service has been designed to separate Canberrans who have lost babies from those who are celebrating the arrival of newborns, so as to be sensitive to grieving parents.

It is expected to support around 500 people each year and can accommodate those who need to stay overnight, as well as those who require specialised care due to early pregnancy complications.

“But I think it’s important that, at the same time, we acknowledge that rooms are just rooms — and it’s the care offered in that space that is more important,” she said.

Mrs Schlage said she has been contacted by hundreds of bereaved Canberra women since publicly sharing her story four years ago.

“This is an infinite grief. The loss of a child is something that you never get over. It does change shape, and you change shape around that grief, but it is always there,” Mrs Schlage said.

“And I’m coping in the sense that this is a real legacy. This is a way for our two babies, Charlie and Sophia, to have had some impact, and for us to have that tangible sense that they have been here and they have meant something to people.”

Mrs Schlage has recently been awarded a Churchill Fellowship for her advocacy and said she would be travelling overseas to learn how volunteers have been integrated into overseas maternity wards, assisting families in their grief long after they were discharged from hospital.

A destination for those presenting to emergency departments in the middle of the night

Assistant director of midwifery at Canberra Health Services, Wendy Alder, said the new unit was evidence of a cultural shift towards women-centred care.

“We acknowledge that every woman’s journey through pregnancy is an individual case,” Ms Alder said.

“And we might not always get it right for every person who we encounter in our care, but we continue to strive every day to improve.”

She said perhaps the most practical benefit of the unit was that Canberrans with early pregnancy complications now had an alternative to the hospital’s emergency department.

“Women often present to the emergency department in the middle of the night with concerns about their pregnancy and they’ll now have the ability to be promptly transferred to this unit and not have to remain for long periods of time in the emergency department.”

Ms Alder said the unit would be staffed by nurses and midwives who were “trained in trauma-informed care” and that there was a quiet room for partners and relatives.

The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children has also recently refurbished its antenatal and gynaecology unit which is also part of the hospital’s wider $50 million expansion.

Bid for bereavement suites at all Australian hospitals

A wider push for bereavement suites at all Australian public hospitals has also been launched with a current e-petition to the Australian parliament.

The plea stated that women who had lost babies were feeling distressed having to spend time in maternity wards “surrounded by women in labour and hearing the cries of newborns”.

“All of this only adds more stress and trauma,” the woman who launched the petition said.

“There’s all these different wards for different reasons but not one for this … we should not be expected to give birth right next to someone birthing a live baby.”

The bid has so far garnered almost 30,000 signatures but it is unclear when the petition will be presented to the House of Representatives.

“[Bereavement suites] would mean so much to families going through termination of pregnancy, stillbirth and neonatal deaths.”

‘It’s 2008 again!’ UK banks facing turmoil with ‘domino effect’ ripping across Europe

The UK risks falling into another 2008-style banking crisis as interest rates rise and banks abroad plunge into turmoil.

Political economist Richard Murphy told Express.co.uk that the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in the US and Credit Suisse in Switzerland should serve as a warning sign for Britain.

He argues that, like these firms, UK banks could have similar vulnerabilities that have not yet been exposed.

Mr Murphy said: “The point is, at the moment there are lots of banks, we don’t know how many, who have losses. But we don’t know whether they are able to pay.

“In that sense, this is 2008 all over again. Because that was the whole problem in 2008.”

Mr Murphy adds that is it possible that UK banks could “topple” if they have similar vulnerabilities that have flown under the radar.

He added: “US banks are meant to have assets of $22trillion and liabilities of $20trillion. So in theory there is $2trillion left over to support the US banking system.

But some academics have done a study that finds the US banks must have lost at least that much on government bonds. So technically they are bust

“Is that also likely to be true in the UK? Yes it is possible because of the enormous increase in interest rates.

“It is possible one of these banks in the UK could topple over? Yes. Would the Government have to step in? Yes. Would the Government have to guarantee deposits? Yes.”

Interest rates increased to 4.25% by Bank of England – UK faces ‘full-blown recession’

The central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has announced a 0.25 percentage point increase to the country’s base rate.

For the past year, the Bank of England has hiked interest rates multiple times in an attempt to rein in inflation with this being the 11th increase in a row.

Earlier this month, fears were raised when Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) – the US’ sixteenth-largest bank known for services in the technology industry – collapsed.

SVB had benefitted from low-interest rates and a boom in the tech industry but was plunged into crisis this month when customers withdrew their deposits from the lender.

Another problem was the fact that, several years ago, the bank put a lot of its funds into government bonds.

Interest rates then soared last year as the Federal Reserve tried to bring down inflation in the US, causing the value of the bonds to sink.

SVB then announced it would sell $2.25billion (£1.8billion) in new shares to plug the hole in its finances, provoking many customers to withdraw their cash. The bank’s stocks then plummeted.

As for Credit Suisse, concerns have surrounded how profitable it is for years, and the bank admitted last week that it had found “material weakness” in its financial reporting.

The Saudi National Bank, a major backer of the Swiss bank, subsequently withdrew its funding. Then, other banks did the same.

Credit Suisse was saved by its rival UBS for $3.15billion (£2.6billion).

While Mr Murphy believes there are parallels between these crises and potential vulnerabilities in the UK, another expert is more bullish about Britain’s financial sector.

Julian Jessop, an independent economist, and fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs, believes UK banks are transparent enough to inspire confidence.

On UK banks, he added: “The balance sheets are there for everyone to see. You can see what bonds they own and so on. The main banks like HSBC and Barclays and so on make it clear what they are doing and they have to report what they will do if for example housing prices collapsed or interest rates rose.

“The medium-sized and large banks in the UK I wouldn’t be particularly worried about.”

Both Mr Murphy and Mr Jessop agree that an intervention from US Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, could also cause issues for the global banking sector.

Following Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank’s collapses, Ms Yellen pledged to guarantee their deposits.

But experts fear that this will create a moral hazard whereby investors move their money to less stable, more risk-prone banks because they know their funds will be protected if anything goes wrong.

Mr Murphy said: “What Janet Yellen has done is open up the hornets’ nest by guaranteeing the deposits. Money is going to move into small US banks because they will think they can’t lose their money.

“Why would people keep their money in the UK when you are guaranteed not to lose it in a US bank?

Mr Jessop added: “The US authorities have gone too far. What they have done is the wrong thing, it sends a dangerous message for the future that risky banks will always be bailed out.”

Other experts have warned that the eurozone could also be at risk.

Emilios Avgouleas, University Chair in International Banking Law and Finance at the University of Edinburgh told Express.co.uk that Deutsche Bank could be hit hard due to its exposure to Credit Suisse.

He said: “Banks with exposure to Credit Suisse will be vulnerable. Deutsche Bank will be vulnerable. The premium over the credit default swaps has increased over the past few days. This signals that the markets expect Deutsche Bank will be the next big European bank to fail.”

He continued, saying that Deutsche Bank has serious problems on the asset side of its balance sheet, adding: “The next domino to fall in Europe is probably Deutsche Bank.”

Deutsche Bank declined to comment.
