Summer Game Fest to replace E3 as 2020’s marquee gaming event

Times are weird. Nearly every technology and video game convention has been cancelled this year, and even the most stalwart of industry staples – E3 2020 – was postponed in response to the coronavirus epidemic.

But in its absence, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has created an event to unite the industry called Summer Game Fest.  This online season of events will bring together 16 of the industry’s largest publishers from Microsoft and Sony to Activision, Valve, Bethesda and Blizzard in a four-month cavalcade of news, trailers and game demos.

From May until August, the Summer Game Fest will partner with these publishers to release updates on current game projects and announce new titles across social media platforms.

According to the organizers, programming that is a part of Summer Game Fest will be distributed across all major streaming platforms, including Facebook, Mixer, Twitch, Twitter, YouTube and more and corresponding game demos (some in alpha or beta stages of development) will be made available on major game distribution services like Steam, the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace.

Wait, where’s Nintendo?

Looking at the lineup for Phase 1 of Summer Game Fest, you’ll notice one popular platform and publisher missing from the list: Nintendo.

Yesterday VentureBeat broke the story that Nintendo likely won’t have a Nintendo Direct this June (opens in new tab) at the time of its regularly scheduled E3 keynote and unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be joining Summer Game Fest, either.

The company’s absence was raised to Keighley on Reddit during an AMA (opens in new tab) and his response was simply “Nintendo is always welcome!” and in another questions saying that “Each publisher will decide to share news when they can — and note that we aren’t saying everyone on that list has a ‘conference’ per se, each publisher will likely have different approaches this year to how they communicate news.”

That format seems to allow for a lot of flexibility and the Phase 1 notation the event used to announce its first round of partners would allow companies like Nintendo and Epic to join later should their schedules and work flows allow for it.

Summer Game Fest has yet to announce its first event, but those looking for salivating game trailers won’t have to wait long – we’ll get our first look at Xbox Series X gameplay during a digital Xbox event next week .

Episode 4 Of ‘The Last of Us’ To Release On HBO Max?

(CTN News) – With the first three episodes of The Last of Us now available on HBO Max, Joel and Ellie have begun their dark journey. On Sunday, episode 4 was released, and episode 5 will be on the streaming service next Friday (presumably to avoid competing with the big football game on Sunday).

The show is an adaptation of the legendary PlayStation video game franchise from Naughty Dog. Season 1 features nine episodes. A second season has also been renewed.

On Jan. 15, the show premiered to an audience of 10 million, with brand-new episodes every week until March 12.

Here is The Last of Us’ HBO Max release schedule. Should the company announce any changes or breaks, this will be adjusted. It will premiere at 6 p.m. Pacific Time (9 p.m. Eastern Time), the same time as last year’s House of the Dragon.

Does The Last of Us have an international release date?

There are several times for the show to drop globally at once:

  • Neon at 3 p.m. Monday.

Joel and his upbeat pal Ellie travel across a ruined US in a world where a fungal brain infection transforms most of the population into violent cannibals.

Pedro Pascal stars as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie in the series. There are also appearances by Nick Offerman, Anna Torv from Fringe, and Melanie Lynskey from Yellowjackets.

The show was teased by HBO. With each upcoming installment, the company releases a trailer and episode preview.

With plenty of intense moments, it’s more thriller than horror. The Infected don’t appear often — Joel and Ellie deal with more survivors than monsters — but when they do, they are very effective.

A flashback scene was added by the creative directors of the game series, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (creators of HBO’s Chernobyl).

However, The Last of Us and its 2020 sequel are some of the most engaging video games ever created. Definitely check out the show if it int rigues you. In addition to PS3, PS4 and PS5, there will also be a PC version on March 3, while the second game will only be available on PS4.

Hogwarts Legacy is almost here, and fans of Harry Potter are practically bursting at the seems in their eagerness to get their hands on the game. It’s already the best-selling game of the year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X despite calls for a boycott over author J.K. Rowling’s statements on the trans-rights debate (yet another unfortunate example of politics and the pop culture wars spilling over into something that’s supposed to be good clean fun).

Here’s everything you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy as we hurtle toward launch.

Launch Date And Platforms

Hogwarts Legacy releases on PC (via Steam and the Epic Game Store), PS5 and Xbox Series X on February 10th. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game come out on April 4th, while the Nintendo Switch version is currently slated for July 25th. Read below for information about Early Access.

What Is Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG set in the world of Harry Potter. It takes place in and around the magical school for witches and wizards Hogwarts and will include spells, flying brooms, monsters and a school filled with students and professors. You play as a fifth-year student who is coming to Hogwarts for the first time—which is very unusual. The story is set a hundred years before the events of the Harry Potter books.

What Kind Of Stuff Can You Do?

Players will attend classes at Hogwarts where they’ll learn new spells and how to make potions as well as other abilities. You can fight magical beasts like dragons and trolls, take a break in the cozy Vivarium (see video below) and go to various nearby locations like the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade. You can fully customize your character’s appearance, gender and magical House, and interact with a wide array of NPCs.

Is There Multiplayer?

No, Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player game only.

Can You Play Quidditch?

No, at least not at launch. While you will be able to fly around on a broomstick, Quidditch is not in the game (though it would make a great DLC).

Who Is The Developer Of Hogwarts Legacy?

Avalanche Software has been working on this game for the past few years. The studio is most famous for the toys-to-life game Disney Infinity, though it’s developed dozens of games over the years beginning with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in 1996.

Early Access Explained

Pre-ordering Hogwarts Legacy’s Collector’s or Digital Deluxe Edition gets you early access to the game before its February 10th release date. Read all about that right here . The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will not have Early Access.

Pre-loading is available now for PS5 and Xbox Series X if you have Early Access, or February 8th if you don’t. There is no pre-load for PC though it should be downloadable when Early Access begins.

The game is roughly 77GB on Xbox Series X, 80GB on PS5 and 85GB on PC.

When Do Reviews Drop?

The review embargo lifts today, Monday February 6th. Not all reviewers got early codes, however, with many review codes going out today or this week. You should get a good sense of what early critics think of the game today, however. Overwatch 2 season 3 is releasing and fans are eagerly waiting for the video game.

Overwatch 2 season 3 is out and the it will be “free to play” from February 7. There will be multiple “One Punch Man ” skins in Overwatch 2, according to reports. Overwatch 2 season 3 is set to be launched on February 7. There will new content but changes will be made.

Apart from “One Punch Man” skins, a custom loading screen will go along with collaboration. There will be an IP collaboration.

80 for Brady is one of the weirder comedies to arrive in theaters lately — so weird that describing it might make you think I am lying. Photo: Paramount

80 for Brady provides the opportunity to watch four of our most treasured actors — Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno — vibe with each other onscreen for an hour and a half. It also insists that Tom Brady is the greatest athlete of all time and, possibly, an angel placed here on earth. (Did I mention Tom Brady is a producer of this movie?)

But perhaps above those two things, 80 for Brady is one of the weirder comedies to arrive in theaters lately — so weird that describing certain details might make you think I am lying if you haven’t seen the film. With that in mind, here is a list of 80 things that happen in 80 for Brady . Some of them are real. Some of them are not. Your job is to make like Natasha Lyonne in Poker Face and determine the truth. (Note: This list is rife with spoilers.)
